Tokyo Game Show will be extended to a five-day event in 2026, as the convention celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Scheduled to occupy the iconic Makuhari Messe in Chiba once again, the show will get underway from 17th September and will run through 21st September, which is a holiday in Japan.

The first two days will be reserved for business professionals, while the public will be able to attend the final three days. By adding an extra day, organisers hope there will be less crowding and more opportunities for attendees to play the games they’re interested in.

While it did lull for a fair few years, TGS has really come roaring back in recent times, with colossal booths and plenty of game announcements adjacent to the event.

For example, Sony, who had a pretty big booth in 2025, will often hold a September State of Play in the days prior to the event.

While it’s still far too early to learn about the exhibitors and games that will be at this year’s show, the organisers have released the event’s 30th anniversary-themed logo, which we’ve embedded above.

Here’s hoping for another good show this year filled with tons of amazing games.
