Things You Should Know Before Playing StarRupture

Things You Should Know Before Playing StarRupture

There are many open-world Survival and Factory Simulator games out there, but not a lot of games have both of these genres together, which is why StarRupture is such a special edition to the industry. After a not-so-soft landing when you first start playing this game, you have an entire planet ready to be explored.

However, if you prefer building your base and making your production more efficient, there are plenty of things here for you as well. The game can be quite overwhelming when you first start playing due to the information you have to take in, but these tips will streamline your experience and help you enjoy it a lot more.

StarRupture is currently in Early Access, and the things mentioned in this article are subject to change.

How To Unlock The Map

One of the first things you’ll notice when you land on Arcadia-7 is that nothing happens when you press the button that generally opens a map in most open-world games. This is because the map feature isn’t unlocked by default in StarRupture, though that doesn’t mean that you have to play the entire game without it.

The main progression in the game revolves around satisfying big corporations back on Earth by sending them various crafted items. Moon Energy Corporation is one of them, and they give you different rewards after fulfilling each order. Once you’ve reached level three on this corporation, you’ll unlock the map, which can then be accessed by pressing M on your keyboard.

To reach level three, you’ll have to finish two more orders for Moon Energy Corporation after finishing the tutorial.

Unfortunately, the game doesn’t feature a mini-map at the moment, which means that you’ll have to open it on the entire screen. It will automatically sync all the areas you’ve explored once you unlock it, and you can uncover more areas by exploring around and clearing the Fog of War.

One of the first things you’ll do once you enter Arcadia-7 is bring out your mining tool and harvest different ores or meteorites on the map. You’ll be asked to do this in the tutorial, and it’ll be an important step since you need these ores for production and Meteorite rock to create your base core.

However, when you’re mining these ores with your tool, you’ll see a heating bar build up on the bottom. If all three lines on this bar fill up, the tool will overheat, and it’ll increase the time it takes to cool down for the next few minutes. You can easily prevent this by pressing the reload button on the tool just before it fills up all the bars.

You Can Switch Character At Any Point

When you’re starting your game in StarRupture, you’ll be asked to choose between one of the four characters, though this doesn’t have any impact on the actual gameplay. These characters bring different dialogues to each situation depending on their personalities, and they’re only there to help you immerse yourself in the environment a bit more.

However, if you accidentally pick a character that you didn’t want to here, you can easily change them through a Regeneration Chamber, which is there by default in your ship, but can also be made using 100 Basic Building Materials inside any of your other habitats. Apart from changing your character, these chambers also act as a respawn point.

You can only have one of these as your active respawn point at any moment.

If you’re about to enter a tough hostile area, it’s highly recommended to create a habitat with a new Regeneration Chamber so that you have a nearby place to respawn.

Always Have A Lot Of Ammo

You can run out of a lot of things on Arcadia-7 including outposts to explore, but enemies will never be one of them. Every time the planet regenerates fully after a wave, these enemies respawn at different locations, and they’ll continue to do so even if you’ve defeated them. The only place where enemies don’t respawn is inside outposts when you’ve explored them fully.

Hence, if you’re planning to go on an exploration journey, you’d want to have a bunch of ammo in your inventory. Each gun uses a different type of ammo, and you can easily use over 500 of them in a single exploration journey due to the sheer number of enemies you’ll face. Thankfully, ammo can easily be crafted with some basic materials.

How To Unlock Your First Weapon

Talking about ammo, you won’t have much need of it until you have your own weapon, which isn’t unlocked by default. Technically, you can use your mining tool as a weapon since its laser deals damage to enemies, though you’ll only be able to deal with smaller hordes of enemies in the starting area with that.

To manage bigger hordes, you’ll have to unlock your own weapon. This can be done by reaching level two on the Griffits Blue Corporation by completing one of their orders after the tutorial. This will unlock the UPP-7 Pistol, which has nine rounds in one magazine by default. This is a basic weapon, but you also have some advanced weapons in the game:

  • MAR-9 “Phantom” (Assault Rifle)
  • SLAMS-12 (Shotgun)
  • M175 “Grim” (Machine Gun)

You can unlock these three weapons and their different attachments by spending War Bonds after you get the Equipment Upgrade Station.

Beware Of Wave Explosions

StarRupture everything overheating after a wave.

As you’re going about your day in Arcadia-7, you’ll regularly hear a dialogue saying that increased Ruptura Activity has been detected. This is an important dialogue as it signals an incoming wave, which happens due to the Star Rupture on the planet. A few seconds after this announcement, you’ll get a countdown for the wave, which only lasts for 15 seconds.

When the wave hits, there will be a giant explosion across the planet, which will instantly kill you if you’re not hiding. Moreover, after the explosion, the planet stays on high temperature for a while, which further deals damage to you every second. The only way to prevent all this damage is by going inside one of your habitats.

The underground caves or abandoned outposts don’t prevent you from taking damage from overheating.

Hence, when you’re out exploring, it’s highly recommended to have at least one Meteorite Heart and some Basic Building Materials to craft yourself a shelter if the wave hits.

Pay Attention To Structure Lights

If you’ve played a factory simulator game before, you might already know how overwhelming it can get when you get further into the game and start crafting more materials. You’ll have to keep track of a lot more buildings and storage, but it can be much easier in StarRupture because of the three light colors on each building. Here’s what each color represents:

Blue

This means that the building is functioning normally.

Red

When you see one or more buildings flashing a red light, it means that there isn’t enough power in the grid, and you’ll need more power generators.

Yellow

The yellow light can mean a lot of things in your buildings, but it’s something that’s preventing them from functioning properly. Not selecting the recipe for the building or having a lack of input materials is one of the most common reasons for this.

Outside of your own factory, lights can also be useful when you’re exploring abandoned outposts since anything you can loot has a yellow light on it, which includes rubble and different excavators or other structures.

Look For Enemy Weakspots

As you explore different parts of the map in StarRupture, you’ll encounter different types of enemies. Some of them are common but can be defeated easily, while others are rare and harder to kill. However, one of the most important things to remember is that all enemies have a weak spot.

For most enemies, these weak spots are their glowing red eyes, though it can also be other body parts, like the little tail of the crab enemy that shields itself from all damage. You’ll save a lot of your ammo if you focus on these weak spots when you can, allowing you to explore a lot more in one run.
