Using a variety of strong handcanons as his weapon, you’ll see a great application of heat from Wulfgard, making him somewhat indispensable on potent elemental reaction teams that make use of how the various natural elements in the game react with one another to create powerful after-effects. Though he makes for a great teammate, Wulfgard is perfectly able to handle himself in combat with a focus on Strength and Agility as you might expect from a wolf like him.
One of Wulfgard’s strengths is how well he fits into plenty of team comps, adaptable and approachable for almost every team type. His ability to inflict Combustion is going to be a massive draw for plenty of players, since it’s a good way to deal Arts damage and get enemies off your back whether he’s your active operator or is along for the ride to help out the team.

While hard to get, you’ll find the Hot Work set to be Wulfgard’s best gear overall in Arknights: Endfield. Until you’ve managed to get it, though, to provide the intense boost to your Heat damage following the successful application of Combustion on an enemy, smaller boosts from more common pieces of gear will work well for Wulfgard as long as they play nicely with his main points of power, his Strength stat and Heat application.

Wulfgard Best Teams And Abilities
While Wulfgard himself isn’t a free-to-play operator, you’ll notice that he does pair well with several F2P and four-star rarity characters, as one of the more powerful elemental DPS characters you’ll have access to this early into the game.
His team with Antal, Perlica, and Arclight is his most powerful combination using a free-to-play character with Perlica arriving early and for free when you first start playing Arknights. Perlica’s Electric abilities play well with Wulfgard’s Heat, and with Antal there to increase Heat and Electric damage, you’ve got plenty of potent possibilities here. Arclight’s a good final pick to double-down on the Electric application to ensure you’ve got Combustion going on, but she can swap with another heat character if need be.
If you’ve been lucky enough to grab Laevatain from the first special banner in the game, then you’ve already got one heck of a team comp for Wulfgard in her.
He and Akekuri will almost always play well together, so if you’re missing any of the characters in the table above for good Wulfgard team comps, you can swap her in easily enough until you’ve Headhunted the operator listed. She’ll change things a bit, but she’s a good way to bridge a gap.
Wulfgard Abilities Overview And Upgrade Priority
You’ll find yourself relying on Wulfgard as a solid DPS operator on any team he’s placed on, but knowing which abilities to focus on upgrading for him can be a little tricky.
- His Basic Attack fires four Heat blasts, and the Final Strike deals an impressive amount of Stagger.
- Wulfgard’s Battle Skill can do a few things, depending on the status effects already on the enemy. The shots themselves deal Heat damage with Heat infliction for the final blow, but enemies already dealing with Combustion or Electrification will take a massive extra blow of heat damage instead.
- You have good ranged damage with his Combo Skill as well, which fires a frag grenade that explodes on impact to deal Heat damage and Heat infliction. This can be triggered when enemies are already afflicted with an elemental infliction, so it’s most potent on elemental teams.
- Finally, his Ultimate deals five hits of Heat damage and forces the application of Combustion no matter his team comp.
Using him as a DPS character, it’s pretty important to upgrade Wulfgard’s skills fairly evenly to ensure he’s always dealing the most Heat damage possible, with the highest possibilities for Combustion. You’ll want to focus mostly on his Battle Skill first, especially when placing Wulfgard on Heat/Electric elemental teams, but his Combo Skill and Ultimate tie somewhat in terms of a second priority when you’re upgrading Wulfgard in Arknights: Endfield.
His first Combat Talent ensures extra Heat damage, and his second returns some of his SP when you successfully inflict a reaction with his Battle Skill, so the more Wulfgard you pull while Headhunting, the stronger he’ll become when deployed on your elemental teams in Arknights: Endfield.
