The Best Water Pokemon In Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension

The Best Water Pokemon In Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension

Even though you’ll be facing the stresses of battles as you play through Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the Mega Dimension DLC, you’ll feel your worries wash away when you bring along the welcoming waves of the wonderful Water-type Pokemon available in the game. There’s not much water in Lumiose proper, but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of Water-types!

No matter if you’re looking for the best of the Water starters available in Pokemon Legends: Z-A or even just a handful of helpful catches from all around Lumiose City, you’ll find no shortage of remarkable Water-type Pokemon in this list.

Clawitzer

Clawitzer was first introduced in generation six’s Pokemon X and Y, so it only makes sense to see its gallant return here in Lumiose City once again in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It’s an Alpha Pokemon you can catch in the middle of the game, provided you’ve got the right levels to go up against the Howitzer Pokemon.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension: All Hyperspace Trainer Rematch Battles And How To Beat Them

Looking to steal Jacinthe’s style or Ivor’s muscles? Then look no further! All it takes is one little Hyperspace Rematch Battle.

Though it doesn’t get a Mega Evolution form in either the base game or DLC, you’ll still have plenty of good luck going into battle with one of the best Water-type Pokemon for your team. If you didn’t already grab a Water type before you hit Wild Zone 11, be on the lookout for the chance to fill the gap with Clawitzer.

Milotic

Standing with Milotic after evolving Feebas in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which was caught in the Mega Dimension DLC.

It won’t take long before you notice how many weaknesses the Water-type can have sometimes, but Milotic has some seriously excellent base stats to help keep these usual weaknesses at bay. As long as you don’t put it up against a Grass or Electric-type Pokemon, you’ll likely be in really good shape.

While it doesn’t get a Mega Evolution, we still love the dramatic change you get to see when your odd-looking fish Feebas (whether that’s in Hyperspace Lumiose or from the Side Mission with a Feebas at the center). Any Pokemon that levels up with beauty is okay in our books.

  • Attack: 140
  • Defense: 105
  • Sp. Atk: 130
  • Sp. Def: 105
  • Speed: 120
  • Total: 660

Even if we’re not totally interested in talking about the bizarre Mega Evolution form it got (seriously, why do its legs do… that?), the sheer power of Starmie’s new stat boost with its ability to go Mega in Pokemon Legends: Z-A makes it an even more formidable fighter than it already has been for generations.

You’ll have watched Lida lovingly train her Staryu throughout the game, so we get it if you gave in and rushed to grab one of your own over in Wild Zone Two. Your first Water Stone has a welcomed recipient with Staryu, and as long as you don’t mind watching that weirdo lumber around behind you, Mega Starmie makes for one powerful Water-type Pokemon.

People used to laugh at the idea of grinding to raise a Magikarp to level 20 with the idea that it’d evolve into one of the very best Water-type Pokemon of all time, but longtime fans know it to be true. Gyarados has always been a fan-favorite when it comes to Water Pokemon, and for good reason, even before it got its Mega Evolution form back in Pokemon X and Y.

Pikachu is a popular choice for trainers in the Pokemon anime, but which one is the best?

With staggering base stats that become even more menacing once it goes Mega, Gyarados enjoys a fairly even balance between physical and Special Attack moves, so anything it’s able to learn from its impressive catalog of moves between level-up moves and what it can learn from TMs Mable gives will land a powerful punch almost without fail.

Beginning to dip our toes into the waters of the Water-type starters in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Swampert was added in the Mega Dimension DLC (by way of very carefully evolving your hard-earned Mudkip) and fans of the third generation rejoiced. If you’re stacking starters, then you’d be silly to skip Swampert!

Though its Mega Evolution is nothing new, having come along in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Swampert has been welcomed addition with the Mega Dimension DLC that fans of the Hoenn starters are excited to explore. It’s a dual-type between Water and Ground, so you’ll have a variety of moves that are sure to shake other types to their cores.

Final form of the Water starter for Lumiose City in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and recipient of a rather intriguing-looking Mega Evolution with the title, Feraligatr is the final form of Totodile, and if you chose the Big Jaw Pokemon as your partner back at the beginning of your adventure, then we don’t need to tell you how mighty Feraligatr can be.

Though it’s one of the few starters who keeps a singular typing in its final form, Feraligatr is able to learn a slew of moves in various types from leveling up or TMs, giving you extra access to types like Dragon, Ice, Fighting, and many more.

Longtime Pokemon fans and lovers of the Kanto starters overall were no doubt excited when Mable called them back to the Pokemon Research Lab for the Side Mission that gives you one of the three generation one starters, and we don’t doubt how eager you were in choosing the adorable Squirtle out of the lineup.

After paying a visit to the Stone Emporium for your Blastoisinite, the Blastoise you’ll evolve from that Squirtle is easily one of the best picks for a Water-type Pokemon partner in the whole of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The pure Water-type is one heck of a Special Attacker, so Blastoise is always a good choice for who to give your supplements, berries, feathers, and more to sharpen this high stat even more.

Greninja

  • Attack: 125
  • Defense: 77
  • Sp. Atk: 133
  • Sp. Def: 81
  • Speed: 142
  • Total: 630

Even if we giggled a little at its upside down Mega Evolution form added in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, we can’t deny that Mega Greninja is one of the best choices for a Water Pokemon you could choose. Prepare to parkour your way to a Pokemon partner like Froakie and work to train it up into Greninja, the final form that receives a dual-typing between Water and Dark.

It’s a Special Attacker by nature, but not only will you hit hard, you’ll hit fast, since Greninja has one of the best Speed stats of any of the Water-type Pokemon on our entire list. It’s got access to Ghost-type moves in Pokemon Legends: Z-A as well, so we’re sure you’ll find a powerful combination for your Ninja Pokemon pal.

While previous Pokemon games have made it practically impossible to do so, Pokemon Legends: Z-A finally gives you the freedom to match your Pokemon.
