Most Pokemon players tend to go for the pure offensive stats when they’re choosing their perfect Pokemon partners, with the goal of winning all their battles through brute strength in mind, but if you’re more of a status-type player, then you’ll want to consider these Poison-type Pokemon for your team comps in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Between the base game and its December 2025 DLC with Mega Dimension, there are plenty of perfect Poison Pokemon in the Lumiose and Hyperspace dexes to accompany you on your journey. These Pokemon are all about (Special) Attacks and battles of attrition, so good luck!

You’d be harder pressed to find a Bug-type Pokemon that doesn’t know some Poison moves, but Scolipede manages to carry both Bug and Poison as its two primary dual typings, and with Attack and Defense stats like it has, the Megapede Pokemon makes for a powerful Poisonous ally.
The Best Catches In Every Wild Zone In Pokemon Legends: Z-A
You should probably still catch ‘em all, of course, but if you have to focus on any of them…
Scolipede is another of the Pokemon to get a new Mega Evolution form in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and you’d do well to give it the strongest slew of Poison and Bug moves that deal physical damage as possible. Teach your Scolipede moves like Megaghorn for its Bug typing and Poison Jab for its Poison typing, and you’ll be good as gold.
Garbodor
Whether you waited until Wild Zone 20 to grab one of the super-strong ones, or you battled and captured one of the adorable little Trubbish you’ll find in the trash cans around Lumiose City, the Trash Heap Pokemon is one of the more potent Poison types you can add to your Pokemon Legends: Z-A teams.
Though you don’t have a single type immunity with Garbodor, you’ll have five resistances to cover a good amount of ground – Fighting, Poison, Bug, Grass, and Fairy all do half-damage to Garbodor. With its Attack higher than its Special Attack, you’d do well to teach it moves like Gunk Shot and Sludge Bomb to really bring on the toxicity.
Grafaiai
One of the newer additions to the Pokedex overall was added in the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and you’ll find plenty to love about the dual type Poison and Normal-type Pokemon, Grafaiai, the Toxic Monkey Pokemon.
Possibly its biggest advantage when used in battle is its sheer Speed stat, with one of the highest top Speeds of any Poison Pokemon in our entire list. While it leans slightly more into regular physical Attack moves, you’ll deal good damage with the Special Attack moves as well, since Grafaiai’s Special Attack stat isn’t all that far behind.

Bug Pokemon got something of a makeover in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, with plenty of fans finally seeing the light and trying out some of these interesting insects, and one of the most powerful of all is a dual type between Bug and Poison. Catch one of the Kakuna hanging around Lumiose and raise it into the Poison Bee Pokemon, Beedrill.
The Best Pokemon Of Every Type In Pokemon Legends: Z-A
It’s not just the strongest Electric-type Pokemon that’ll shock you, either.
In its Mega Evolution, you’ll see its already fairly meager Special Attack stat plummet, but Mega Beedrill more than makes up for this with its massively boosted Attack stat. Teach it moves like Poison Jab and Lunge to best take advantage of its dual typing and make sure you’re going for the heaviest-hitting moves.
Toxtricity
Who wouldn’t love a poisonous punk rock Pokemon pal for their adventures through Hyperspace Lumiose? Introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield, Toxtricity is called the Punk Pokemon, and which of its two unique forms you end up receiving will depend entirely on the nature of the Pokemon you’re raising.
While it doesn’t have any actual type resistances to speak of, you’ll find it to be a huge weight off your shoulder that Toxtricity is resistant to just as many types as do normal amounts of damage to it. If you toss Toxtricity into battle against a Fighting, Flying, Poison, Bug, Steel, Grass, Electric, or Fairy type, it’s likely to come out on top.
Arbok
Maybe you found one of the tiny, adorable little Ekans in a courtyard around Lumiose City, or you went for the gold and took down the Alpha Arbok up on the rooftops above, but either way, the Cobra Pokemon is certainly going to be a shining star on any Pokemon team composition for Legends: Z-A and the Mega Dimension DLC.
While it still doesn’t get a Mega Evolution form, one of few generation one Pokemon not to get one in Legends: Z-A, you’ll still find base form Arbok to be a pretty formidable foe. It’s a physical Attacker, which is fine, since it doesn’t actually learn any Special Attack damage moves in its base learnset in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Go all in on physical damage and watch the victories rack up!

Even if its new Mega Evolution is maybe one of the silliest we’ve seen yet, Victreebel and its Mega Evolution form are some of the best overall picks for Pokemon in Legends: Z-A. Your Victreebelite will be a hard-fought win, if you’re looking to invoke the power of its Mega Evolution for yourself, but it’s well worth bringing a Flycatcher Pokemon of your own into battle.
It’s got high Attack and Special Attack stats in its base form, but those only get even better when you have your Victreebel go Mega. Add in that it’s got pretty decent Speed for a Pokemon of its size and weight, and you’ve got one heck of a battle on your hands with this Poison-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

We only recently met Glimmora’s semi-rare base form back in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet when it appeared late in the game down in Area Zero, but Glimmora returns once more in Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC to bring the staggering power of the Ore Pokemon back to trainers yet again.
Only this time, it’s got a Mega Evolution form, and if you thought it had a good Special Attack stat in its base form, you haven’t seen anything until your Glimmora has gone Mega. With six type resistances and a slew of powerful Special Attack moves to teach it, you’ll have no trouble achieving victories around Hyperspace Lumiose with Glimmora.
