The Best Normal Pokemon In Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension

The Best Normal Pokemon In Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension

While the typing has been in the Pokemon games since the very first generation, it’s not often you’ll get to see Pokemon with the Normal typing shine, but Pokemon Legends: Z-A and its December 2025 DLC, Mega Dimension, have sought to make sure you give them a fair chance on the field.

Normal types have their pros and cons, but if you’re looking for good maneuverability and some of the more impressive of the new Mega Evolution models, then you might want to consider adding some of the following Normal-type Pokemon into your battle team comps for Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Watchog

You’re likely going to start seeing Watchog and its first form, Patrat, much earlier than some of the other best Normal-type Pokemon we’ve put into our list, since these Lookout Pokemon can be found practically everywhere in Lumiose, from the alleyways to the rooftops.

You should probably still catch ‘em all, of course, but if you have to focus on any of them…

If you’re looking for the Watchog with the very best stats, though, you’d be wise to try catching the Alpha Watchog you can find in Wild Zone Ten surrounded by plenty of perilous Patrats. It’s a solid Pokemon who can handle dishing out a good number of different physical Attacks, so it’s a good choice if you’re building an early team.

Diggersby

Diggersby in the Pokedex in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Sure, it’s vastly less adorable in its final form of Diggersby than it ever was as an adorable little Bunnelby, but if you’re looking to bulk up your team with some solid Normal-type Pokemon, then Diggersby is a pretty good choice no matter when you add it to your team.

While it doesn’t have the most impressive spread of stats of some of the other Pokemon in our list, you’ll find good use for a Pokemon with affinities like this, since Diggersby is immune to both Ghost and Electric-type Pokemon given its dual typing between Normal and Ground, and you’ll see a resistance to Poison and Rock moves as well because of it.

Meowth

  • Total: 290

Meowth has had several different appearances throughout the Pokemon series, going with us to Alola for a cool gray look and to Galar for a fluffier and more feral vibe, but either way you evolve it, you can’t go wrong adding the Normal-type Scratch Cat Pokemon to your team.

All three of its forms are available in the Hyperspace rifts from the Mega Dimension DLC, but you’ll see Alolan Meowth take on the Dark type while Galarian Meowth specs into Steel. If you’re looking to stay as a Normal-type (and potentially even evolve into the final form of Persian), then regular Kanto Meowth is your best bet.

Lopunny

If you grabbed one of the cute little Buneary (which are available from roughly a quarter of the Wild Zones in Lumiose City) and spent time dedicating yourself to improving the friendship you built with the first form of the Rabbit Pokemon, then you’re in for a powerful treat when it evolves into its final form, Lopunny.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Strongest Pokemon Tier List

The strongest Mega Evolutions stake their claim.

With its blistering Speed stat only increasing more when it goes Mega, and its Attack and Defense scores both skyrocketing to boot, you’ll be in good shape if you need to dish out any solid physical damage. Trade some of your Mega Shards for a Lopunnite at Quasartico Inc. Headquarters and you’ve got even more power on the line.

Grafaiai

Grafaiai in Pokemon Legends Z A.

One of the newest additions to the Pokemon canon comes back to us again in Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s December 2025 DLC with Mega Evolution, and if you track down a Shroodle or its final evolved form of Grafaiai in a Hyperspace Rift, then you’ll be set up for success with this Poison and Normal dual-type.

In addition to immunity against Ghost-type Pokemon, it’s resistant to Poison, Bug, Grass, and Fairy-type Pokemon, meaning you’ve got a really helpful spread of affinities when you throw Grafaiai onto the field. Its high Speed stat almost guarantees you’ll move first in battle, too, to deal those physical Attack moves even faster.

Porygon

Two people trading Porygon2 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Porygon is a really interesting Pokemon in that it’s heralded as the Digital Pokemon, since it’s comprised of computer programming code instead of being an actual animal-like creature as most Pokemon tend to be. We’ve seen it get a few evolutions over the years, too, with Porygon 2 and Porygon-Z coming along later on, and you can’t go wrong with either form.

Whether you capture a Porygon of your own in one of the Normal-type Hyperspace Rifts or trade for one on a Side Mission (which will evolve immediately on trade, given the item it’s holding), this Pokemon pal can learn moves of varying types to keep your opponents on their toes in battle.

Furfrou

Furfrou in the Pokedex in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Anyone who spent time in Lumiose City back in Pokemon X and Y can tell you just how prominent a cultural icon Furfrou is around the Kalos region, with plenty of trainers dedicating their time and efforts to ensuring their Poodle Pokemon has the most dapper haircut available in the capital city.

Its stats don’t change as you give your Furfrou new do’s, but it’s always fun to tinker and mess around to see how stylish we can make our puppy Pokemon pals.

As a dog, it’s got an impressive Speed stat, too, so you’ll be quick as you land all those physical Attacks during battle. It learns a variety of Dark moves as it levels, too, so you’ve got a good affinity spread with Furfrou’s moves, too.

Audino

Augino in the Pokedex in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Base Stats

Audino

Mega Audino

  • HP: 103
  • Attack: 60
  • Defense: 86
  • Sp. Atk: 60
  • Sp. Def: 86
  • Speed: 50
  • Total: 445
  • HP: 103
  • Attack: 60
  • Defense: 126
  • Sp. Atk: 80
  • Sp. Def: 126
  • Speed: 50
  • Total: 545

We didn’t get a ton of Normal-type Mega Evolution forms added in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the Mega Dimension DLC, but we already had one of the very best like no Pokemon ever was in the base game all along. Audino is a Normal-type Pokemon capable of dishing out damage of varying types, but one of its best strengths is actually in its defense stats.

Mega Audino gets plenty of buffs, but the most notable it receives are massive increases to both Defense and Special Defense, with each increasing by 40 points and nearly doubling in the Hearing Pokemon’s Mega Evolution form.

Drampa

Drampa's entry in the Pokedex in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Base Stats

Drampa

Mega Drampa

  • HP: 78
  • Attack: 60
  • Defense: 85
  • Sp. Atk: 135
  • Sp. Def: 91
  • Speed: 36
  • Total: 485
  • HP: 78
  • Attack: 85
  • Defense: 110
  • Sp. Atk: 160
  • Sp. Def: 116
  • Speed: 36
  • Total: 585

Introduced in Pokemon Moon specifically (available only via trade in Pokemon Sun), Drampa has made quite the splash this time around in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the Mega Dimension DLC as being one of the greatest Normal-type Pokemon included in the game, even before you let it evolve into its newly-added Mega form.

Despite how Normal-type Pokemon typically operate, Drampa is more of a Special Attacker than a physical one, though both stats are relatively high compared to some of the other Pokemon picks in our list. Mega Drampa only doubles down on this damage output, boasting the highest Special Attack stat in the whole of our list of the Normal-types to use in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

You may want to do something to boost its relatively low Speed stat to make it more competitively viable.
