The Best Gunlances In Monster Hunter Stories 3

The Best Gunlances In Monster Hunter Stories 3

The Monster Hunter series has always been known for its unique and varied weapons, and the Gunlance stands out as one of the most wonderfully unusual, and that tradition continues in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

The Gunlance is a piercing weapon, but also acts great as a defensive tool regardless of the skills associated with it. There’s a lot of utility to the Gunlance, and here are some of the best you can get.

Dios Gunlance – Brachydios

You can initially encounter Brachydios in Azuria, though they do not become common until the Serathis region. That said, if ou manage to tame one early on, you can get an obscenely powerful weapon.

The Dios Gunlance retains its status as a powerful weapon even into the endgame. It starts to drop in terms of damage, though the Blastblight it can inflict on enemies makes it very useful, especially due to how early you can potentially unlock the weapon.

Fiore Nulo Green – Insects

The Fiore Nulo Green is one of those weapons that is crafted from insects parts, and this one is unlocked after defeating a Green Bnahabra, whichmeans you can get it quite early on, too.

The Fiore Nulo Green won’t be one of the strongest weapons by the end game, though you can unlock it quite early. On top of that, it is one of the few Gunlances that can also trigger the Paralysis effect, which is a great help against fast and powerful monsters.

Tiger Blast – Tigrex

Before you can gain access to any Tigrex weapon, you’ll have to save them first and add them back to the habitat of your choice. All of their weapons are powerful though, an the Gunlance is no exception.

The Tiger Blast is Normal element, and only comes with a single Decoration slot, but it also has very high damage, and one of the highest Wyvernfell stats at 35, even compared to later weapons with a higher damage number.

Frostmoon Gunlance – Lunagaron

The Frostmoon Gunlance in the crafting menu in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

The Frostmoon Gunlance is crafted from Lunagaron, found in the Serathis region, but also doesn’t require any extravagant materials to get to its final level, letting you max it out not long after you first battle a Lunagaron.

The Frostmoon Gunlance has high damage, deals the Ice element, has a decent Wyvernfell stat of 15, and also has two Decoration slots. There’s nothing exceptional, but also everything is strong. It’s a dependable weapon even before investing in a specific build.

Sinister Gunlance – Magnamalo

After a starring role in Monster Hunter Rise, Magnamalo reappears here, and they’re just as fearsome as usual. Magnamalo is first seen early in the game, though you can’t tame them until Serathis, so no getting these weapons early.

Like all of Magnamalo’s weapons, the Sinister Gunlance can inflict Blastblight, and quite quickly. On top of that, it has a Wyvernfell stat of 25, high damage, and three Decoration slots, letting you build up on everything that already makes it strong by default.

Ravenous Gunlance – Deviljho

The Ravenous Gunlance in the crafting menu in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

Deviljho can be first fought and even tamed in the Canalta Timberland with the use of Paintballs, and t’s well-worth it for the obscene strength of all of their weapons, the Ravenous Gunlance included.

The Ravenous Gunlance can’t be upgraded much before the endgame as it requires Invasive materials. But it’s already strong by default, and has one of the highest Wyvernfell stats of 35 when fully leveled.

White Gunlance – Gravios

The White Gunlance in the crafting menu in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

The White Gunlance is a somewhat ridiculous weapon. Gravios is first encountered in Tarkuan, and yet despite that, the White Gunlance is far and away one of the most versatile Gunlances in the game, even at level one.

It comes with high Fire damage, a Wyvernfell stat of 35, can build up Poison on enemies, and increases your Defense when it’s equipped. It does only have a single Decoration slot, but it already comes with so much, they’re not necessary.

Veldian Hasta – Arkveld

The Veldian Hasta in the crafting menu in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

First appearing in Monster Hunter Wilds, Arkveld exists as a unique monster in that they absorb the elements of others to become empowered. This is even reflected in game by their Wyvernsoul Gauge, and their weapons try to account for this, too.

The Veldian Hasta has one of the highest damage stats in the game, good Wyvernfell of 25, and three Decoration slots to let you adjust the weapon into anything you need it to be. It’s very versatile.

Gold Dragonwood Gunlance – Yama Tsukami

The Gold Dragonwood Lance in the crafting menu in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

The gear that Yama Tsukami offers up is fairly light, with only a few weapons and not a single piece of armor. But that said, their weapons are very unique, and perhaps not at all like you’d have expected considering the monster they’re made from.

The Gold Dragonwood Lance has no Decoration slots, but one of the highest damage stats in the game, but also the only weapon at this level that can inflict Paralysis. It’s a weird one to use right, but very rewarding.

Hydra Ephyra – Namielle

The Hydra Ephyra in the crafting menu in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

Namielle is an almost contradictory monster, using both Thunder and Water in tandem with their attacks, though their weapon do not carry over this peculiarity. They do have some oddities of their own, however.

The Hydra Ephyra deals 164 Water damage when maxed out, and has no Decoration Slots. It attempts to make up for this with another remarkable number though – a Crit Rate of 15%. If you can build your armour around this, you can get some very powerful hits off.
