If you’re starting to get your four-star characters powered up from all that Headhunting you’ve been doing on the main character banners in Arknights: Endfield, then you’ve likely already met Catcher, a four-star defensive character who’s more than ready to hop into practically any physical team comp you can create.
With a focus on defending the team and applying a slew of powerful physical statues to foes, Catcher is a valuable operator to build in Arknights: Endfield. Pair him up with more potent physical damage-dealers and watch him defend the team and help clear a path forward by your side.
Best Catcher Weapons And Essence
When you’re pulling on the primary Headhunter banners for some of the rarer operators you can use in Arknights: Endfield, you’ll end up with a slew of four-star characters to enjoy using and powering up to carry you through the earliest hours of the main game until you’ve landed those coveted banner operators, and this is where you’ll find Catcher. He’s a four-star physical great sword user who slots well into practically any physical-based team comp.
Arknights: Endfield – All Tasks You Should Complete Daily
Your checklist for every task you should do daily in Arknights: Endfield to get the most value from your account.
As a defender character, Catcher is focused primarily on keeping the rest of the team safe with his great swordplay and valiant defensive capabilities, shielding the team and applying all sorts of potent physical inflictions to enemies across the field. While he may not often be your controlled operator as you favor more DPS-centric operators, Catcher is still a strong choice for parties that might need a little extra defense in their otherwise offensively strong team comps.
With so much emphasis on his physical capabilities, you’ll be unsurprised to see that his main attribute is his mighty Strength, and his unyielding Will comes in a close second as his secondary attribute as well.
If you’re looking for a way to deal more physical damage with your other Strength-based operators while also mitigating the damage your team takes in combat, then Catcher will likely be a mainstay in any team comp for Arknights: Endfield that relies on physical prowess over elemental afflictions. Find ways to play well with him inflicting a steady stream of statuses like Weaken, Vulnerable, and Knocked Down with the wide assortment of balanced offensive and defensive moves in his kit.

Exemplar |
Six-Star |

While the boost for physical damage does rely on having used Catcher’s Battle Skill or Ultimate, both of which recharge rather slowly compared to some other operators, the Exemplar great sword is still a great choice due to the impressive number of physical buffs it offers Catcher. He doesn’t hit as often as other phsyical characters, so best to make it count when he does! |

Former Finery |
Six-Star |

The Former Finery great sword likely pairs better with a healing character, but with general defensive capabilities and a boost to both Will and max HP, Catcher is a great contender to use the Former Finery great sword as well if you’re looking for continued use for your six-star weapon pulls. |

OBJ Heavy Burden |
Five-Star |

His signature weapon, Catcher is all but designed to play with the OBJ Heavy Burden great sword in Arknights: Endfield. It offers boosts to both of his stats (with a flat Strength boost for the first and a blanket secondary attribute boost on the second, should you choose to give this weapon to someone else down the line), as well as an increase to Catcher’s maximum amount of HP. |

As one of the better starting physical characters as you begin Headhunting in Arknights: Endfield, you’ll find that Catcher thrives most when placed in physical damage teams, foursomes that focus on dealing as many types of physical damage and status vulnerabilities as possible.
A good choice for doing this is by pairing Catcher with physical operators for the smoothest time synergizing on the battlefield. Your default character in the Endministrator makes a great choice given their similar prowess for physical damage and physical afflictions on in combat, and the free-to-play operator Chen Qianyu who joins up early in the game’s main mission fills a secondary slot seamlessly to double down on the physical damage output your team is capable of dealing.
In this setup, Catcher plays a primarily defensive role, setting up status afflictions for the Endmin to drive home with Chen Qianyu on the sidelines to deal continuously potent damage.
The fourth slot for good Catcher team comps depends largely on which other operators you’ve got. Akekuri is the best four-star character to slot into this team comp, helpfully regenerating SP to aid the more offensive teammates in using their stronger attacks even quicker than normal. If you’ve managed to pull him, though, Pogranichnik is a better choice in slot than Akekuri, replenishing more SP and dealing far better damage.
We’d recommend against using Catcher on any elemental team comps you’ve assembled so far in Arknights: Endfield, since his physical buffs and damage types won’t do too much to aid Arts characters that focus on elemental damage or ailments.
Catcher Abilities Overview And Upgrade Priority
In Catcher’s kit, you’ll find a variety of offensive and defesive moves, with a focus on the skills that keep teammates safe as well as a defensive operator.
- Catcher’s Basic Attack deals up to four sequences of physical damage, including an impressive 22 Stagger when you land a Final Strike with him as your controlled operator.
- Calling on his defensive capabilities for his Battle Skill, Catch gives himself and any nearby teammates the Protection status with his oversized shield, which returns some of your SP when used. If an enemy attacks Catcher of the teammates with the Protection status, they’ll receive a pushback with physical damage and Vulnerability applied.
-
Offensive and defensive all at the same time, Catcher’s Combo Skill punches downward at foes and deals physical damage while shielding himself and another nearby teammate as well. It triggers when your controlled operator is below 40 percent health, or when an enemy is charging up an attack to try and stop them in their tracks.
- If you’re not controlling Catcher when he uses this Combo Skill, the controlled operator will take priority when he decides which teammate to shield alongside himself. If you are using him, the teammate seems to be selected at random.
- Focusing more on his offensive might than defensive prowess, Catcher’s Ultimate swings his great sword twice to land good physical damage on nearby enemies and Weaken them, before following it with another slash that deals even more physical damage and Knocks Down any enemies it hits., rendering them Vulnerable in the process.
As a defender, you’ll want to upgrade Catcher’s defensive skills and abilities first and foremost, with attention paid mostly to his Battle Skill to begin amplifying how strong his shield can be. From there, his Ultimate and Combo Skill should take priority, with his Basic Attack relegated to last place, given how many vastly stronger damage-dealing operators you’ll be running with Catcher.
As you continue to pull extra copies of Catcher from the Arknights: Endfield banners and raise his potential, you’ll begin unlocking his Combat Talents. The first offers an extra bit of defense for every point of Will he’s got, and the second improves his Ultimate, causing him to create shockwaves when he lands that deal a good amount of physical damage to every enemy they hit.
