Stardew Valley Still Isn’t Done, As ConcernedApe Has Major Plans For 1.7 Update

Earlier today, Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone responded to a fan on X, teasing what we can expect from the next major Stardew Valley update.

“There will be some more character/social stuff, it’s also traditional to add a new farm type,” he explained. “Lots more but I don’t want to reveal much yet”.

Haunted Chocolatier is the elephant in the room whenever Stardew Valley updates are mentioned, as some fans worry that these major content drops are only lengthening the wait for ConcernedApe’s next game, but he recently explained that it won’t delay progress “as much as you might think.”

“I have a team who helps me with Stardew Valley updates now,” Barone said. “Unlike the previous updates, with 1.7 I have been trying to take more of a ‘creative director’ role in the team, so that (at least for now) I can focus the vast majority of my attention on Haunted Chocolatier.”

When Can We Expect Haunted Chocolatier And Stardew Valley 1.7?

To that end, there’s no release window for 1.7, let alone a date, as Barone noted that it might launch “after Haunted Chocolatier comes out”. However, he stressed that this could always change. So, it might be a while before the full reveal, but this tweet does at least give us an idea of what to expect: a new farm, and some expanded social interactions.

From the outside, that might not sound like much, but the community is ecstatic, hoping to see everything from friendable Marlon and Gunther to a swamp farm.

Haunted Chocolatier likewise doesn’t have a release date, so it’s hard to narrow down an exact timeline, but Barone explained earlier this year that he hopes to release the game by 2030 at the latest, giving us a rough indication of when to expect 1.7 should the old plans still hold.
