As if Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero didn’t already have enough content, characters, modes or costumes, the title is going all out with another DLC update that is set to launch sometime this summer.
In a new trailer showcased during Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri, the live stream event celebrating all things Dragon Ball, including word of a new anime and an original game coming in 2027, it was revealed that the heavily-fan-requested characters that were missing are now making their way to the game, including Super Saiyan Bardock, Super 17 and Demon King Piccolo.
The announcements for Sparkign! Zero didn’t stop there, either, as not only are new characters coming to the game, but so are new costumes, including Gohan in Goku’s signature orange gi. New attacks and a new mode were also promised during the near-two-minute-long trailer.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Player Has Fixed The Daima DLC’s Biggest Mistake
“Now, to go even further beyond.”
It’s a “massive DLC that will allow you to enjoy even more heated battles of Dragon Ball,” Jun Furutani, producer of Sparking! Zero, said on stage.
Finally, a free update will be launching for the game that adds Budokai Tenkaichi’s famous Mission 100 to the game. For those not in the know, Mission 100 is a beloved, albeit extremely hard mission involving 100 battles against some of the franchise’s toughest opponents and teams.
Dragon Ball Games Have Had Exceptional Post-Launch Support
While it had already been announced that Sparking Zero would be receiving new DLC during a one-year anniversary celebration, even if it wasn’t already made known, new content shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, especially if you’ve been following other Dragon Ball titles.
Back in October, FighterZ came out of its hibernation to reveal that Super Saiyan 4 Goku (Daima) would be coming to the game as DLC in Spring 2026, a seismic announcement considering the last DLC was released roughly four years prior.
Then there’s Kakarot, which, after giving us OG Dragon Ball DLC, went current day with a pair of Daima-related expansions, the last of which released this month. For reference, Kakarot first released in 2020 before receiving DLC support through 2024, with expansions essentially every year.
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Xenoverse 2, a title that was released in — checks notes — 2017 and is still receiving free and paid upgrades to this day. So much so that it added Ultra Supervillain Golden Frieza, a spin on the manga-only Black Frieza. Its developers are firmly aware how overwhelming that can be and a flowchart of DLC was even released.
In other words, DLC is the norm, and if you’re a hardcore Dragon Ball fan, would you really have it any other way? Nope.
