Much has been made of Sony’s approach to single player games this generation, but the reality is it still very much remains at the forefront of great solo software.

Last year it released the runaway Game of the Year winner in Astro Bot, and just next month it’ll deploy Ghost of Yotei. That’s not to mention all of the other awesome titles that have deployed this generation: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, Death Stranding 2, et al.

In a Corporate Report, the company highlighted its goal within its first-party studio business to advance its position as “creative leaders in single player experiences”.

It does, of course, go on to mention that it also aims to broaden its business model through the “diversification of live service offerings” – but the manufacturer clearly still believes it can have success in both categories.

It’s good to see the company single out single player experiences like this; last year’s document didn’t specifically mention solo campaigns, for example.

With the likes of Marvel’s Wolverine, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Saros all on the way, it should be a fruitful few years for fans of Sony’s single player games.
