Over the past few weeks, companies that still enjoy using generative AI have been doing their utmost best to rip off a bunch of popular video games. Google’s Project Genie was one such tool, which allowed users to create virtual worlds with prompts, so, of course, it was immediately used to make horrible versions of Dark Souls and the currently unreleased Grand Theft Auto 6.
Unfortunately, it’s now Roblox’s turn to do the ripping off. Earlier today, Roblox revealed that it had been working on a concept that it calls “real-time dreaming”, which functions exactly the same way as every other generative AI tool out there and lets people create virtual worlds with simple prompts.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – 13 Most Memorable Quotes
These are the most unforgettable quotes in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
In the tweet showcasing the tech, Roblox explained that its generative AI tool is trained on “a combination of data”, which includes Roblox’s own world and avatar interaction data. So, what better way to really show the critics out there – that claim generative AI is just fancy plagiarism – they’re wrong by immediately ripping off one of the most popular games released last year.
Yes, for some reason, Roblox decided it would be a great idea to showcase its new AI by creating Clair Obscur but much, much worse. In the video included in the tweet above (thanks GamesRadar), you can see that the prompt “woman in a glowing cave” brings up a very shoddy-looking version of Maelle running around what is almost definitely the Flying Waters level in Clair Obscur.
Two prompts quickly follow this one, to add both a flaming sword and a dragon, neither of which actually blend in with the world itself, before the video goes on to simulate two other worlds, most likely ripping off some different movies or games. The Aztec world with the flying dino looks an awful lot like Ubisoft’s Avatar game, but I just can’t prove it.
