Resident Evil Requiem Stats Reveal Over Half Of Players Got Bad Ending

Spoilers for Requiem follow.

You know you’ve messed up when after the credits roll, the game asks if you want to try again. That’s exactly what happens in Resident Evil Requiem if you choose to destroy Elpis, which is hardly surprising considering that Zeno whips out his big flashy pistol and puts one between Leon Kennedy’s eyes — there’s no way Capcom is killing off their star rookie. We’ll be roundhouse kicking the infected as a 70-year-old Leon all the way through to Resident Evil 16, just wait.

Yet, according to the official Capcom stats, 56 percent of players destroyed Elpis on their first playthrough, whereas just 44 percent released it and cured Leon. I’m assuming most of us chose to go back and rectify that mistake, otherwise you don’t get to fight Victor Gideon in his Nemesis form, or see the actual ending where Chris Redfield’s team swoops in to save the day. What a disappointing way to cap off your first Requiem run.

Resident Evil Requiem stats showing that 56 percent of players chose to Destroy Elpis.

Yes, I chose the bad ending too — I was curious!

So, most of us messed up on our first try. Let’s move on from that embarrassing statistic — there’s plenty more to dig into here. Capcom also revealed that we’ve collectively beaten Requiem 6.3 million times, and that the first completion (including cutscenes, restarts, and pauses) took 16 hours and 48 minutes.

Already, the community has racked up 8,842 years worth of playtime, with 2.8 billion total kills. Community-wide, we’ve suffered 120 million deaths, which considering the number of kills, isn’t so bad. But between being mauled by zombies and crushed by Chunk, we’ve crafted 929 million items, collected 15 million liters of blood, and used 38 million ink ribbons. Surprisingly, over one million severed hands have been analyzed — that’s a lot of people trying to solve the enigmatic Final Puzzle. But more people have dug through the Raccoon City police station library to find Wesker’s private “rookie” photograph. 1.2 million of you, to be exact.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Resident Evil game without a rocket launcher, and while you have to buy it with completion points in the store, players have already racked up over 39 million kills with it. Leon has also exacted some much-deserved revenge with the chainsaw, killing over 86 million enemies. The titular Requiem, however, has amassed an impressive kill count of over 269 million, clearing both.

If you want to check out the stats and see how you compare, you can do so on the official Requiem website here.
