If you managed to breeze through Resident Evil Requiem on Insanity mode like a zombie-kiting pro, then a new mod that makes zombie bites infectious and potentially lethal might be the challenge for you.
In most zombie media, the biggest thing that survivors have to worry about is getting bitten by a zombie and slowly turning into one of the undead. In Resident Evil, however, that usually isn’t much of a concern. Pretty much every game in the series sees its heroes getting clawed, cut, and bitten by zombies, only for them to live on and deliver an RPG to whatever big baddie is waiting at the end.
To be fair, that’s mostly for gameplay reasons, but it’s still noticeable how many times Leon, Grace, and every other protagonist get munched on without consequence.
Resident Evil Requiem is no different, as zombie bites are just another day at the office for both Leon and Grace, who never really react beyond losing some health and seeming a little disgruntled. It makes Resident Evil Requiem a bit less stressful, but if you’re missing that rush, then there’s a tough new mod that’s perfect for you.
Resident Evil Requiem Player Has Made Zombie Bites Infectious And Potentially Lethal
That Literally Bites
As expected for a Resident Evil game, Requiem has already managed to amass quite the modding community over the past two weeks, ranging from silly inclusions like shirtless Leon to unbelievably helpful ones like the orphanage skip. Perhaps the most interesting of the bunch so far, though, is one that PC Gamer highlighted called “Bites Matter – Infection”.
Just like the name implies, Bites Matter makes each zombie’s signature move actually count for something other than a bit of damage. Getting bitten as either Leon or Grace will cause you to be infected, which slowly drains health over time (one health point per stack) and builds up if you keep getting bitten or just ignore the infection.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, infections persist across saves and per character.
The only way to get rid of the infection is to use healing items, but only the Med Injector actually cures it, while green herbs will remove stacks and buy you time depending on how many you use. Considering how many people I’ve seen beat Requiem on Insanity mode in just a few hours, it sounds like this mod is the perfect way to spice things up a bit and add some considerable challenge.
I’m Tired Of Every Single Resident Evil Game Peaking So Early
Capcom’s survival horror franchise is incredible, but it’s opening acts are often the very best.
