Today’s Nintendo Partner Showcase had a bunch of surprising announcements, including the long-awaited reveal of the Resident Evil Requiem amiibo.
Ever since the dark, slow days of January, Nintendo fans have been praying that a Direct was on the horizon to finally give us an idea of what the Switch 2’s 2026 is going to look like. That wish was clearly made on a monkey’s paw, as Nintendo ended up confirming that it was a Partner Showcase instead of a Nintendo-centric Direct.
That would have been very disappointing to hear back in the original Switch’s lifetime, but it’s actually quite an exciting prospect for the Switch 2. Since it’s proven that it can handle bigger games, there are a ton of releases that we’ve all been waiting to see come to the Switch 2, but that’s not really what we ended up getting at today’s Direct.
Leon And Grace Amiibo Revealed, Coming Summer 2026
Leon Even Has His Hatchet
It’d be fair to call the Partner Showcase a bit of a disappointing event, as there really wasn’t much there to get excited about. One game that took a lot of the showcase’s time was Resident Evil Requiem, which included a bunch of new gameplay footage from the upcoming Switch 2 port.
We’ve seen a lot of Requiem already, but Nintendo did at least give us something new to look at in the form of two new amiibo of Leon and Grace. Grace’s amiibo comes with a backpack, while Leon’s has him holding his hatchet, but both look a little bit off overall, especially compared to the more detailed statues we’ve already seen. The amiibo are going to be launching in Summer of this year.
Nintendo also showed off the Requiem Pro Controller, which looks like a newspaper clipping in controller form.
