Resident Evil Games Made Up Half Of The Top Ten Best Sellers In The UK Last Week

Resident Evil Requiem is performing very well, having registered the highest review scores for an original entry in the series for more than 20 years, and selling more than five million copies at launch. Its success has also had a knock-on effect for the games that came before it, as half of the top ten best-selling games on the UK physical chart last week were Resident Evil titles.

While it isn’t necessarily representative of sales as a whole, physical game sales in the UK are often used as a barometer for how new games are performing since the numbers are shared every week. Last week’s top ten has been shared by Push Square, and not only is Resident Evil Requiem on top, but four other Resident Evil games have joined it.

Resident Evil Requiem Outsold Pokemon Pokopia In The UK Physical Chart Last Week

Requiem clinching the top spot alone is impressive, as it was the new Resident Evil game’s second week on the market and it had Pokemon Pokopia to compete with. Pokopia talk has dominated the internet since it launched last week, but it only made it to number two in the UK physical chart. That might be because Nintendo hasn’t been able to keep up with demand as physical copies of the new Pokemon game have been selling out left and right.

Pokopia’s Switch 2 exclusivity also means it has a limited reach, unlike Requiem, which is available on all the latest consoles.

The next most popular Resident Evil game after Requiem is Biohazard, which was the fifth best-selling physical game in the UK last week. Resident Evil 3 is two spots lower than that in seventh, and then its predecessor Resident Evil 2 made it all the way up to ninth. I’m assuming those are the remakes of those games as opposed to the original PS1 versions.

The Resident Evil Generation Pack Will Probably Sell Well All Month Long

Rounding out the top ten is the Resident Evil Generation Pack. Aside from Requiem, this is the one I’m expecting to stick around with sustained sales for the next few weeks. The triple pack combines Biohazard, Village, and Requiem for the Switch 2, so perfect for fans of the series who haven’t had anything to play the last three original entries in the series on until now.

The problem with the Generation Pack is that, like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, it’s a limited-time release. The pack will only be available to buy until the end of March, after which point it will be delisted from the eShop and removed from store shelves. That’s why I’m expecting it to sell well throughout most of the month as, once we hit April, you will no longer be able to buy it.
