It appears that Resident Evil Requiem won’t be the only Resident Evil title making headlines during the franchise’s 30th anniversary in 2026, as the long-requested and heavily rumored remake of Code Veronica will be announced at some point in the year, too.
But don’t take it from us. Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem took to social media on Saturday to assert that, contrary to recent rumors, a remake of Resident Evil 5 isn’t being announced in 2026.
Instead, the planned Code Veronica remake will be the one making headlines.
So much so, it’s a “promise,” according to the insider.
Later this year, a RE Remake that starts with “(C)” & ends “(ode Veronica)” is going to be announced, I promise you.
As it stands, RE Requiem, which recently held a mini showcase, is set for release on February 27. Beyond that, the only other major RE-related thing is Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie, which is set for a September 18 release, barring a delay.

Zach Cregger Has Won Me Round To His Resident Evil Reboot Again
A recent interview shows that Cregger clearly understands his source material and how it plays to his strengths.
Outside that, the calendar is wide open for any future events or reveals, so if Dusk Golem is indeed correct, then at some point between February 27 and September 18, or September 19 onward, there could be an announcement.
Resident Evil Code Veronica And Zero Are Seemingly The Next RE Titles In Line
Back in 2024, it was first reported that both Code Veronica and Zero would be the next “old” Resident Evil titles to receive the “Remake” treatment, joining Resident Evil 2–4. That bit of info came roughly two years after a fan-led remake project of Code Veronica was canceled by Capcom.
Flash forward a year, and it was further reported that Code Veronica, in particular, was being treated like a “mainline” RE game by Capcom. The last significant update we had is that Code Veronica is on track for a release at some point in 2027. Meanwhile, Zero, which was rebooted mid-cycle, won’t be out until at least 2028.
Which means if Resident Evil 5 or the original Resident Evil, AKA RE1, then you’re probably going to be waiting a while for any sort of significant overhaul.
