Whether the huge popularity of Hollow Knight: Silksong is having an effect on the reliability of the PSN service or not is unclear, after the events of earlier today. However, thousands of reports are flooding in of intermittent problems with the PlayStation Network this evening.
The network itself isn’t completely offline; you should still log in if you boot your PS5 up. Though, some features like your Friends list may not be working. In fact, our PS5 is telling us we don’t have any friends whatsoever. Unless we’ve suddenly been unfriended by everyone, that’s not correct.
The tabs of the PS5 home page, like the PS Store and PS Plus icons, also seem to be taking a while to load. In essence, there seems to be a strain on PSN right now that’s leaving the experience a little laggy.
DownDetector is also picking up thousands of reports, which have spiked in the last hour. Almost all the reports coming in complain of server connection issues:
