Pokemon Go Was Forced To Remove A PokeStop From Epstein’s Island

Pokemon Go Was Forced To Remove A PokeStop From Epstein’s Island

The last few weeks have seen more releases of the Epstein Files, and with them, crossovers to the world of video games. It was revealed that the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein was banned from Xbox Live in 2013, and that he advised Bobby Kotick on Call of Duty’s microtransactions, and there was a mention of former Rockstar leaders, Sam Houser and Leslie Benzies, with the latter denying any wrongdoing. In the files, Epstein can also be seen recommending somebody “check out Pokemon Go if you have not already”.

That little snippet from the files is now sounding wholly more ominous, as over the last few days, players have discovered that Little Saint James, also known as “Epstein Island,” contained a Pokemon Go PokeStop, something which the game’s creators have now been forced to remove.

Over the last few days, players across social media have begun to circumvent Pokemon Go’s terms of service by using GPS spoofers to make their way to Epstein Island. When there, they found that Little Saint James had a single PokeStop, titled Sun Clock.

How or why the PokeStop was placed on the island is unclear, but there is a three-year overlap of Pokemon Go being on the market and Epstein being out of prison.

YouTuber Cyber Boi put out a video about Leslie Benzies being mantioned in the files.

In the time since it was discovered, Pokemon Go players have found that the Little Saint James PokeStop has been removed. It’s likely that, given the situation around Epstein and the file release, developers Niantic moved swiftly to get rid of it, something the company confirmed to GamingBible.

While the island was the site of heinous crimes, some Pokemon Go players are treating their visits there like a badge of honor. On the “Pokemon Go Brag” subreddit, one decreed that they received an egg from the island that they would keep unhatched “for the lore”, while others offered in-game gifts from the island that they’d be willing to trade for certain Pokemon.
