Pokemon Fans Debate Creatures With The Wrong Typings, Including Psyduck

For as long-running as a franchise that Pokemon has been, there are still several questions that have yet to be answered. Some of it is part of the fun, like still not knowing what the inside of a Pokeball is like or why Pokemon are able to lay eggs.

Other parts still don’t make sense, like why Ash was so bad at battling despite having some God-tier Pokemon in his arsenal or why certain Pokemon have the wrong typing, like Psyduck not even being a “Psychic” type. Speaking of the latter, taking to Reddit, fans discussed some of the most egregious mis-typing in series history.

We can probably stop dunking on Ash since he’s no longer part of the anime and sorely missed. Also, he probably was bad for plot reasons. But still he should’ve been the ultimate winner.

Psyduck is up there, but there are so many worse examples!

Are We The Only Ones Significantly Bothered By These Mis-Typings?

OK, now that we’ve established that Psyduck’s typing bothers everyone to no end, we can list out all the other Pokemon that are just as bad, if not worse, because of how the typing impacts team builds.

“There’s no reason why Noctowl shouldn’t be a flying/psychic type,” one user wrote. “It’s apparently extremely intelligent which isn’t exclusive to psychic types but is a common factor, and it can learn a lot of psychic type moves.”

Here’s one that we didn’t think of — Glalie. “Why on Earth is it not Ice and Rock-Type?” a user asked, especially considering, as they noted, its body is made of rock that it then covers in ice!

All these complaints aren’t even relegated to basic Pokemon you can find in the overworld, as there are some inconsistencies with the legendaries, too! “Lugia being Lord of the Seas and lives underwater and creates whirlpools of water. Yet he isn’t a water type,” one fan described.

Lugia isn’t the only big-time ‘Mon to catch strays, as other users wondered why Celebi and Jirachi simply weren’t “Fairy” at the beginning! Add that to the list of unanswered questions that desperately need answers.

The thread, which has topped 1.6K responses, is worth a read if you’re super into Pokemon typing or also have gripes about just how broken some of these characteristics are despite seeming like the ultimate slam dunks. Personally. Gengar should not be “Poison.” I will not explain any further.
