While The Pokemon Company and Nintendo already had their hands full dealing with Palworld, another game has decided to up the ante. Pickmon was seemingly announced out of nowhere and has been accused of stealing ideas and designs from both games. Hell, even the developer’s name, PocketGame, is very similar to Palworld’s Pocketpair.
Fans even noticed that Pickmon was lifting designs from Final Fantasy 14, especially the aetheryte crystals that act as fast-travel points in city hubs. However, it doesn’t stop there. Several artists have now accused Pickmon of ripping off their fan art. At least two separate artists have noticed their fan art in the game’s trailer and images, albeit slightly edited.
Pickmon Accused Of Stealing From Fans
The first case appears to be el.psy.fake‘s concept of a Mega Meganium. The same monster can be seen in Pickmon’s banner image, but with some alteration to its eyes and wings. The design of the chest and the shape of the antennae/horns are a dead giveaway, though. The artist’s image was uploaded to Instagram on March 10, 2025, so it’s way older than Pickmon’s version.
Fans also spotted a monster that looked an awful lot like Ceruledge in the trailer, except it had four legs. However, it turns out artist jayjay_mons uploaded a very similar concept to their Instagram account on February 25, 2025.
This is on top of the monsters that look similar to Charizard and Lucario. Many of the other monsters seen in the trailer look like mashups of Pokemon and Palworld’s monsters. However, there are other similarities too. The player characters look a lot like Zelda and Link from Breath of the Wild, and one of the presumed bad guys looks like Roadhog from Overwatch.
Pickmon’s devs have clearly been paying attention to the legal drama between Nintendo and Pocketpair, as, instead of balls or spheres to capture monsters, the game uses some form of cards. This was likely due to Palworld having to change its summoning feature.

After Being Called A Pokemon Clone, Palworld Is Getting Its Own Trading Card Game
It’s just taking pleasure in pushing Pokemon’s buttons at this point.
