Phantom Blade Zero Will Be A PS5 Console Exclusive For A Year

Phantom Blade Zero‘s latest trailer not only confirmed its release date, but also revealed that it’s only going to be a console exclusive on PS5 for a year after its launch.

This week’s Game Awards showcase was full of massive reveals and new trailers, but one of the games featured that excited me the most was Phantom Blade Zero. S-Game’s action RPG has been on my radar even since it was announced, so finally getting its release date (September 9), was a surefire highlight of the show.

For some time now, we’ve known that Phantom Blade Zero was going to be a PS5 console exclusive, meaning that it’ll only launch on that and PC in September. Nothing has really been said about Phantom Blade Zero potentially coming to Xbox at a later date, but we do at least know that it has a decent chance of being ported.

Phantom Blade Zero Could Come To Xbox A Year After PlayStation

September 2027 Is The Earliest Possible Date For Xbox Players

As pointed out by Genki_JPN on Twitter, the latest trailer for Phantom Blade Zero was recently uploaded to PlayStation’s official YouTube channel. While The Game Awards version of the trailer cut out before the splash screens, the PlayStation version has an interesting ending that should give a little hope to Xbox players.

Just like with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s launch trailer, the Phantom Blade Zero release date trailer ends with a screen that confirms the game will be a PS5 console exclusive for at least one year. That means that Phantom Blade Zero can be ported over to Xbox and other consoles from September 9, 2027.

On the one hand, Black Myth: Wukong tells us that release timing could end up being incredibly accurate, as that game was also a timed exclusive for a year and then ended up on Xbox exactly 12 months later. On the other, these exclusivity windows don’t always pan out, as Rebirth still isn’t on Xbox consoles despite it being more than a year since the exclusivity ran out.
