The battleground of ultra-thin phones continues to heat up, and the newest competitor is Motorola with a phone exclusively available in China. An international release is expected for a phone similar to this new handset, but it’s unclear if that device will come to the US.

The newly launched Moto X70 Air was revealed in China this week at 5.99mm thick with a weight of 159 grams. Apple’s iPhone Air is 5.6mm thick and 165g, while the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is 5.8mm and 163g.

Motorola’s phone is slightly thicker than the other two, but it includes a much bigger battery at 4,800mAh. That’s remarkably big given the S25 Edge’s battery is 3,900mAh and the iPhone Air is 3,149mAh.

The Moto X70 Air also comes with 68W fast-charging, which should mean it’s quick to charge. The phone features a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, and it’s paired with 12GB of RAM. There are also storage options of 256GB or 512GB.

The display is a 6.7-inch OLED with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 and 120Hz refresh rate tech. There’s a 50MP selfie shooter on the front of the phone. The rear of the phone also features two 50MP cameras.

There’s Android 16 software straight out of the box here, but the brand has yet to confirm how many years of software updates will be provided.

Will you ever be able to buy the X70 Air? It’s unclear right now, and even if Motorola does sell a similar device in the US, it’s unlikely to be called the same name. However, Motorola has already begun teasing international availability.

The brand is teasing a release for a new product in the UK on Nov. 5, which is likely to be the Motorola Edge 70. This may be a reworking on the X70 Air, but Motorola has yet to confirm anything.

Motorola doesn’t often sell the same phones in the US and UK, instead opting for slightly different variants in each market. The brand has also focused on its Motorola Razr series in the US in recent years, so it may choose to skip over the market for this new phone.
