Wizards of the Coast frequently drops small exclusive limited-time Magic: The Gathering sets known as Secret Lairs. These feature unique art styles not seen elsewhere, as well as a bonus, unlisted, card. This, combined with the rarity of each set, means that many Secret Lair cards increase in value significantly.
As a core card in every deck, land cards are critically important, and secret lair drops give players the chance to get their hands on a range of unique, interesting, and playable lands you may not otherwise find in a booster pack any time soon.
All the prices of these cards are from TCGPlayer, and are subject to change.
Updated on December 26, 2025, By Helen Ashcroft: Secret Lair land cards continue to be sought after, so we’ve updated this list to reflect the most recent prices and include sets released since this article was originally written. Some cards have changed price, some extras have been added, and one dropped off the list completely.

Magic: The Gathering – 10 Most Valuable Lands
There are some pretty pricy lands in Magic: The Gathering, with these being among the most valuable ones you can play.
15
Wasteland – $23
SLD #178 Artist Series: Mark Poole
This Wasteland card by Mark Poole is from his author’s set. It evokes images of the kind of desert you’d see if a disaster hit Aladdin as he was searching for the lamp. The ominous rocks flowing up the side showcase the careful artwork showcasing a destroyed temple.
The beauty of this land is also in its ability to be sacrificed in order to destroy a nonbasic land. If your opponent is playing some of the more powerful lands on this list, this beauty is your counter.
14
Breeding Pool – $23
SLD #132 Culture Shocks
The Breeding Pool is a forest island card which will enter the game tapped, unless you pay a cost of two life. The effect is as ominous as the card itself, which is bathed in a deep green hue. Unknown creatures rise up out of the depths of these pools, swimming in green goo and somehow looking incredibly hungry for beings with no distinctive mouth.
The card is a dual land, allowing you to tap it for either green or blue mana, offering diversity over single colored lands and allowing for more color combinations in your deck.
13
Darksteel Citadel – $24
SLD #608 Mirrodinsanity
The Darksteel Citadel is an artifact land which looks incredible. The retro pixel style is unique and eye-catching, making this a cool-looking card for your deck. It stands out against the usual art style and is particularly likely to appear to retro RPG players since it feels like a place you’d explore back in the day.
The real beauty here though, is in the fact the land is indestructible and can be tapped for one colorless mana. A little boost of power which can really go far.
12
Steam Vents – $27
SLD #129 Culture Shocks
Another dual-color land, Steam Vents depicts a stunning windswept land with fog drifting over a pool with steam rising from its depths. The unique surroundings offer an image which looks at home in any deck.
As with the other dual land, this costs two life to bring intom the game untapped. However, once in play it can be tapped for red or blue mana, offering the same flexibility as the Breeding Pool, but for different deck types.
11
Isolated Chapel – $28
SLD #739 Doctor Who: Weeping Angels
The Isolated Chapel is a third dual land card, this time for black and white. However, it is unique in that there is no life cost to playing this untapped. Instead, the card will be played untapped if you control a Plains or Swamp.
The image itself is from Doctor Who, and shows the iconic weeping angels lining the driveway up to the chapel. This is one journey you won’t want to blink while taking.
10
Great Furnace – $29
SLD #303 Mirrodinsanity
The Great Furnace is a stunning pixel art card from the Mirrodinsanity set. It depicts a huge and complex furnace which looks unique and eye-catching. The fire burns brightly and vibrantly on the card, which has borderless art.
The artifact land can be tapped for red mana, matching the firey depiction on this card. It’s status as an artifact also comes with the usual pluses and vulnerabilities.
9
Exotic Orchard – $34
SLD #1231 The ’90s Binder Experience
The Exotic Orchard is a card which really goes hard on its theme. The ’90s Binder Experience Secret Lair is a colorful riot of neon and this card is no exception. If you want to evoke some pure ’90s energy and Candyland vibes, then this land is for you. Neon bunnies frolick in this candy-inspired orchard with ice creams and lollipops galore.
This card allows the mana you tap for to match the color of any land under your opponent’s control, offering versatility for any Commander deck. It’s also legal in Legacy, Modern, and more.
8
Emeria, The Sky Ruin – $41
SLD #1291 Artist Series: Alayna Danner
Emeria, The Sky Ruin looks stunning in this traditional fantasy-style design from Alayna Danner’s Artist Series Secret Lair drop. The buildings in the sky are placed in the background yet still stand out against the cloud sky with hints of the ocean beneath. The spiral railings surrounding the structures given them a beautiful and unique look sure to look great in any deck.
This land card can return a creature to your battlefield from your graveyard if you meet the criteria of controlling seven or more plains. It’s also legal in several formats including Commander, Legacy, Modern, and Vintage.
7
Dracula’s Tomb Rare Nonfoil/Foil – $44
SLD #208 Welcome To Castle Dracula
Dracula’s Tomb draws on classic gothic horror vibes in this creepy coffin artwork. The open coffin surrounded by smoke and covered in intricate detail evokes wealth and mystery. Adding the candles and the shadow against the wall gives this art a stunning element of mystery to add to the darkness.
The legendary land has mechanics involving sacrificing a creature to gain black mana. A fittingly dark card for any Commander Deck, it’s also legal in several other fomats including Legacy, Brawl and Modern.
6
Rogue’s Passage – $43
SLD #607 Blueprint Cards
The Rogue’s Passage from the Blueprint Cards Secret Lair is a unique design unlike many others. The background comprises sketched blueprints of a maze of passages in a style which evokes M.C. Escher vibes. Center stage is a colored yet muted illustration of someone walking into a passageway surrounded by trees.
If you want your artwork to be more traditional, interesting and unique, this land is a great choice. Its secondary ability allows you to choose a creature which cannot be blocked for a turn.
