Medieval 3 Lead Confident That It’ll Release Before Elder Scrolls 6

Listen, at this point, we’re all aware of how long it’s been since The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced, and all the years that have passed since then without even a trailer. And given Todd Howard’s own words, it seems like that wait isn’t going away anytime soon either.

All that is to say, it’s become a meme in gaming circles, and it seems that even other game developers are in on the joke. Because as first spotted by GamesRadar, Roger Collum, vice president of the Total War series, believes that the recently — and we mean recently — announced Total War: Medieval 3 is almost certainly dropping before TES 6.

Skyrim vs Rayman 2: The Great Escape

When It Comes To Ports, There Is One Game That Gives Skyrim A Run For Its Money

Skyrim arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 last week, and it’s about to be followed up by another video game legend.

“We know it’s going to be a few years (I’m pretty sure we’ll still beat Elder Scrolls VI to market — please Bethesda accept the challenge for all our sake – I need it!), and there’s no amount of sugarcoating to escape that fact, but we really want to make it something worth waiting for — and with your support, it will be,” Collum wrote in a wrap-up forum post.

Ouch!

Those words cut especially deep when you factor in the part where Total War: Medieval 2 was released on *checks notes * November 10, 2006. And that a whopping 19 years had come and gone before Medieval 3 was finally revealed.

If there was one thing 2025 was good for, it’s giving us a few hints here or there about the status of this long-in-development title. For example, a charity auction was held with the winner being able to create a character for TES 6. It’s definitely the kind of contest that doesn’t happen if no progress is being made.

Elsewhere, an insider noted that TES 6 is “quite playable” right now, though the words “playable” might be doing some heavy lifting for a rudimentary combat system or something similar. A further rumor stated that the game could be released as early as 2027.

In other words, there’s a lot of info out there, even if some of it’s conflicting. It’s certainly more info than fans have had to entertain in a long while. It’s led many to think the game could release within a generation or so of consoles. Of course, there’s a good chance that doesn’t happen and Total War: Medieval 3 ends up dropping first.

Let the race to release begin.
