Marvel Rivals Is Making Deadpool Its First Hybrid Character

Marvel Rivals Is Making Deadpool Its First Hybrid Character

Over the past few weeks, Marvel Rivals fans have been trying to figure out exactly where Deadpool is going to fit into the roster. He was revealed as a Duelist, which made a lot of sense, but NetEase then confused everyone by shifting his locked portrait over to the Vanguard section. Finally, fans figured out that they were being messed with when his portrait was put into the Support position. It was a pretty fun bit, and keeping in touch with the character, but it did leave Deadpool’s role up for debate.

There’s a DPS epidemic in Marvel Rivals right now, with over half the roster dominated by the role, so there were hopes that NetEase would make Deadpool anything else. Thankfully, they’re getting their wish, as not only will Deadpool be a Vanguard, but he’ll also be a Support, and a DPS all at the same time.

Marvel Rivals Is Making Deadpool Its First Hybrid Character

A series of videos are being shared by Marvel Rivals insiders, one of which was shared by a Twitter account called RivalsInfo that outlines exactly how Deadpool will work in this hybrid role. As explained by Deadpool himself, when you want to use him as a Duelist, you’ll be able to use his dual pistols at range and deal melee damage up close with his swords.

When you want to use him as a Vanguard, Deapool will get a nice health increase (going from 250 to 500) and gain the ability to throw out a unicorn plushie that deploys a small shield. Finally, if you want to play him as a healer, Deadpool’s pistols will gain the ability to either deal damage to enemies, or heal allies, similar to how Black Widow’s team-up with Phoenix currently functions.

Of course, there will probably be a lot more intricacies to Deadpool’s kit that isn’t shown off in the video, and we can get a general idea of that in a new video shared by Marvel Rivals insider Miller Ross, which showcases Deadpool using a small book to choose between buffs to seemingly upgrade his weapons. We’ll probably learn more once Deadpool is closer to dropping, but until then, we can look forward to Deadpool’s fourth wall-breaking shenanigans, and being a hybrid character is quite possibly the best way to start.
