Marathon’s Voice Cast Is A Who’s Who Of Iconic Video Game VAs

As it turns out, the early morning leaks were true, and Marathon is indeed releasing on March 5, less than 45 days away from the time of writing. Bungie’s return to the classic shooter that started it all will put to an end a momentous journey that included alleged acts of plagiarism and an indefinite delay.

Ahead of its launch, Bungie dropped a new pre-order trailer, info about the game’s various editions, including a Collector’s Edition that doesn’t actually include the game, along with the title’s voice cast. That last bit is particularly noteworthy as Marathon’s VA cast is the gaming equivalent to the Ocean’s movies.

Marathon will feature the voices of:

  • Krizia Bajos
  • Samantha Béart
  • Beau Bridgland
  • Ry Chase
  • Roger Clark
  • Darin De Paul
  • Jennifer English
  • Dave Fennoy
  • Nika Futterman
  • Morla Gorrondona
  • Reina Guthrie
  • Donnla Hughes
  • Keston John
  • Sohm Kapila
  • Rich Keeble
  • Elliot Knight
  • Erica Lindbeck
  • Piotr Michael
  • Brent Mukai
  • Neil Newbon
  • Ariana Nicole George
  • Emily O’Brien
  • Lee Shorten
  • Jason Spisak
  • Ben Starr
  • JB Tadena
  • Fred Tatasciore
  • Craig Lee Thomas
  • Elias Toufexis
  • Oliver Vaquer
  • Scott Whyte
  • Tracy Wiles
  • Erin Yvette

That’s everyone from Clive Rosfield, Arthur Morgan, Shadowheart, Astarion, Jessie Rasberry and Asajj Ventress, just to name a few. If it wasn’t already clear how much of a role narrative will play in Marathon, it’s abundantly clear now.

It also might mean that Marathon could be a Game of the Year nominee, if not the outright winner, by year’s end. Before you tune this out, hear me out.

Jennifer English Is The Secret Sauce To GOTY Contenders

As TheGamer’s Sam Woods noted back in December, English might be the hidden secret sauce to winning Game of the Year. Three of the last four titles to have won the prestigious GOTY have all featured English in some capacity, including in the lead.

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, English played Maelle, a stunning performance that also saw her individually net the Best Performance award. Expedition 33 ended the night with its first of what would later be many GOTY awards. Before that, in Elden Ring, English took on the role of Latenna, an NPC in the Albinauric Village. Elden Ring won GOTY that year, too.

And, of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t highlight her role as Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3, which — you guessed it — won Game of the Year. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Either way, what a phenomenally stacked cast. As someone who was very remotely interested in Marathon, it’s enough to make me want to find a way to experience the narrative and hear everyone’s performances.
