Lego Will Reportedly Hold A Contest To Design Its First Yu-Gi-Oh Set

Updated at 8:25am on February 3, 2026: The rumors about Lego’s first Yu-Gi-Oh set and a contest asking fans to design it are now confirmed to be true. The contest is now open, and you can submit your entries via the Lego Ideas website. All sets must be between 400 and 2,000 pieces, and be pulled from Yu-Gi-Oh’s Battle City or Duelist Kingdom tournament arcs.

Lego has well and truly opened the doors to just about any major IP, particularly after landing its white Wailmer, as we’re now less than a month away from the launch of its first Pokemon sets. That launch might be paired with the Lego debut of another anime, as a leak has potentially revealed plans for a first-ever Yu-Gi-Oh set.

The leak appears to have originated with moose.with.a.goose, but has been shared on Reddit by BrickTap, a typically reliable source when it comes to Lego leaks, meaning this almost certainly holds some weight. If so, there will be a twist to Yu-Gi-Oh’s long-awaited Lego introduction, as the leak claims fans will determine what exactly from the anime will be turned into Lego first.

Lego Seemingly Wants You To Design Its First Yu-Gi-Oh Set

Yugi transforms into Yami, the spirit of an Egyptian pharaoh in Yu-Gi-Oh.

According to the leak, Lego will hold a contest that anyone can enter, on which Yu-Gi-Oh fans will be tasked with designing a set worthy of being turned into a real-life, tangible product that can be mass-produced and sold to Lego-loving Yu-Gi-Oh fans the world over. If accurate, you can expect an official announcement soon, as the leaker claims the contest will open on February 3, 2026.

Before you let your imagination run wild, the leak does note some rules and parameters your Yu-Gi-Oh sets will have to meet if you want them to be considered. First of all, you can’t pull just anything from all of Yu-Gi-Oh history. Only sets based on elements from Yu-Gi-Oh’s Duelist Kingdom and Battle City arcs will be considered.

Keep Your Lego Yu-Gi-Oh Dreams Realistic And Under 2,000 Pieces

The only other asterisk we know of at this time is that the set must be 2,000 pieces or less, which, honestly, is a relief. It’s been quite a few months for behemoth Lego sets that cost more than most normal fans can afford. First, there was the $1,000 Death Star that launched last year, and now there’s the $650 Pokemon set, which combines Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise once complete.

If this Lego contest is real, and what it appears to be, you need to think smaller than that, although with up to 2,000 pieces to play with, there’s still plenty of room to get creative. Perhaps we will finally see the Yu-Gi-Oh set that didn’t make it to the production line in 2023, despite hitting 10,000 votes through Lego Ideas, finally become a reality.

Reported on by Brick Fanatics at the time, a Dark Magician vs. Blue-Eyes White Dragon set that doubles as a deck box submitted to Ideas was hugely popular. It received 10,000 upvotes, which meant it reached the stage at which Lego assesses whether fan-made sets submitted through Ideas can become a reality. The Yu-Gi-Oh set didn’t make the cut, but three years later, it looks like all Yu-Gi-Oh fans will have the chance to have their say on what they would like to see become the anime’s first-ever Lego set.
