Multiple insiders have reported that Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece is being ported to the Switch 2 soon, although it’s very likely that it ends up being a Game-Key card.
Although there are plenty of games that we’re all waiting to see get a Switch 2 release (looking at you, Hi-Fi Rush), there’s one series that’s arguably more in need than the rest – Kingdom Hearts. I’m not just saying that as a biased Keyblade nerd, either, as there’s one big reason why we’re all praying for a Switch 2 port.
I am, of course, talking about Kingdom Hearts’ infamous Cloud Edition, which released all the way back in 2022 and remains the only way to play the series on Switch. Considering how poorly Nintendo’s Cloud Editions work, Kingdom Hearts fans have been waiting for any kind of news on a proper Switch release, and it looks like it might finally be coming.
Kingdom Hearts Might Finally Be Leaving Its Rubbish Cloud Editions Behind For A Switch 2 Port
God Knows How It’ll All Fit Onto One Key Card, Though
Over on Twitter, insider NWeedle shared a scoop claiming that Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece (which is a collection of all the games, including Kingdom Hearts 3), will be released natively on Switch 2 in the near future. This report was corroborated by Attackdabacklog and verified by “various sources”, giving the rumour a decent amount of backing.

There’s No Excuse For Kingdom Hearts Not To Be Native On Switch 2
With the Switch 2 being a more powerful console, Kingdom Hearts shouldn’t have to be cloud-based anymore.
It’s worth noting that Nash Weedle isn’t always the most reliable Nintendo insider. That being said, KH coming to Switch 2 seems like an inevitability, so it’s not hard to believe.
As everyone in the comments has pointed out, though, there’s one major concern for Kingdom Hearts on Switch 2 – whether or not it’ll be a Game-Key Card, if the rumour ends up being true. Integrum Masterpiece contains all of the games in the series, which is surely too much for the Switch 2 to handle without an extra download of some kind.
Unless Square Enix splits some of the games up (such as having Kingdom Hearts 3 on its own Card, which sounds like a good approach to me), it seems very likely that Kingdom Hearts is likely to be another Game-Key release. Of course, that’s much, much better than the Cloud Edition that we’ve got currently, but it’ll still put a bit of a downer on the series finally being properly playable on Switch.
