How To Start The More Spores For Hoppip Event In Pokemon Pokopia

Pokemon Pokopia is finally here, and players can’t get enough of exploring this unique Pokemon world as a quirky Ditto person. Since Pokopia is intended to be a bit of a long-term casual game, there’s an endless amount of things to do at all times, even beyond the story.

That said, on the off chance you’re looking for something a little more exciting to do, Pokémon Pokopia’s first in-game event, More Spores For Hoppip, will be kicking off this month and will feature limited-time rewards and Pokemon interactions.

When Is The More Spores For Hoppip Event

Although Pokemon Pokopia launched on March 5, 2026, the first event won’t take place until March 9, 2026. This gives players who haven’t purchased the game yet a few days to get caught up before the event goes live. The timeline for the event is:

  • Starts on March 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. PDT— Ends on March 24, 2026, at 12:59 p.m. PDT

Players have found that you can access the Hoppip event at any time by setting your Switch 2’s date to a day within this time period, as is often done in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Disney Dreamlight Valley, so if you miss the event, you should theoretically be able to set your clock back and acquire these Pokemon.

However, time traveling in games like this can often break the game. For example, doing this in DDV can stop the shop from resetting properly and will prevent daily items from respawning until the game “catches up” with itself. So, while there are no known similar consequences in Pokopia yet, do this at your own risk.

This will give players a little over two weeks to complete the event and earn all the rewards, which is good, because in order to participate, you will have to complete a few of the main story tasks first.

The More Spores For Hoppip event will, unsurprisingly, be focused on Hoppip and its evolution line. As soon as the event begins, you’ll be able to find Hoppip wandering around the town and can befriend it. Hoppip will ask you to collect Cotton Spores for it, but these Spores can only be found on Dream Islands.

Ditto talking to Drifloon about Dream Islands in Pokemon Pokopia.

To access Dream Islands, you’ll need to befriend the Drifloon that can be found floating around on the coast near the ocean, by the bridge that leads to Palette Town. All you’ll need to do to befriend it is build its habitat, which is three campfires side-by-side, and then find it a doll that it can channel energy from in the area it directs you toward. Note that the doll will appear as a doll in the overworld.

Once you’ve befriended Drifloon and given it the doll, it will offer to bring you to a dream island. Dream Islands can only be accessed once per day, and these are where you will find the Cotton Spores that can then be exchanged for picnic furniture items at the Pokemon Center. Those items can then be used to create unique habitats that will spawn Skiploom and Jumpluff, so you can befriend them too.

Dream Islands are not to be confused with Cloud Islands. Dream Islands are resource islands where Drifloon can take you once a day. Cloud Islands are what are used for multiplayer and will not have Cotton Spores.

The habitats to spawn Skiploom and Jumpluff are as follows:

Yellow Carpet Habitat (Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff)

4x Dandy Flowers

Field-Trip Friends Habitat (Skiploom)

1x Flower Backpack, 1x Lunch Box, 1x Hoppip Water Bottle

These Pokemon are considered exclusive to this event, at least for now, so while they will remain after the event’s conclusion, you will not be able to discover them outside of this specific event.

Since you’ll be required to trade the Cotton Spores at the Pokemon Center, you must have access to the main Pokemon Center for the event to trigger. Even if you are within the event timeline, Hoppip will not appear until the Pokemon Center has been rebuilt.

Once it is, Hoppip should appear nearby to kick off the event, and with that, you have all the information you need to participate. So, be sure to get to work and grab these three Pokemon before they’re gone!
