How To Make It Rain In Pokemon Legends: Z-A

How To Make It Rain In Pokemon Legends: Z-A

While exploring the city of Luimose in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you may have noticed that the weather periodically changes, and if you’re lucky, you may even have spotted a rainbow over Lumiose from time to time. Like other Pokemon games, weather changes in Legends: Z-A aren’t just for show.

Many Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A will only appear under certain weather conditions, much like how some only appear during day or night. In addition to the weather being a requirement for certain spawns, some Pokemon, like Sliggoo, also require certain weather conditions to evolve, which is why it’s important to know how to reset the weather when you need to.

How To Change The Weather

While it would be nice to be able to pick a weather option and have it happen on command, that’s unfortunately not an option. However, while tedious, you can trigger a change of weather at any given time until you get the weather you’re looking for.

To do this, all you need to do is approach any bench in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and select the option to ‘kill some time here’ as this will then fast-forward to either day or night, depending on which one you’re currently on.

If you’re having trouble finding a bench, since they seem to be everywhere until you actually need one, fast-travel to any Pokemon Center. Every Pokemon Center has a single bench outside that you can use to kill time.

There are six different weather conditions you can encounter, and you should be able to see which one you’ll have as the transition from night to day is happening. The different weather conditions you can get are listed below:

Description

Clear Skies Icon in Pokemon Legends_ Z-A.

Clear Skies

This is the most common weather condition in Lumiose, where the sun shines brightly over the city.

Intense Sun Icon in Pokemon Legends_ Z-A.

Intense Sun

This is one you’ll also sometimes see during certain points of the day. It’s mostly the same as clear skies, but with more intense sunlight.

Cloudy icon in Pokemon Legends_ Z-A.

Cloudy

This weather condition consists of large dark clouds across the sky of Lumiose, but no rain.

Rain Icon in Pokemon Legends_ Z-A.

Rain

Rain can be a bit hard to see while it’s happening, but the overall gloomy appearance of the city can help clue you in to the fact that it’s about to rain.

Foggy icon in Pokemon Legends_ Z-A.

Fog

As the most oddly unsettling weather condition of the bunch, fog is easily recognizable as you’ll see it covering the streets of Lumiose.

Rainbow weather icon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Rainbow

Similar to clear skies, except you’ll see a rainbow over the city if you look up.

To check the weather at any point, open the map and look in the top right corner for the small weather icon. If you are skipping days, keep in mind that some weather conditions, such as rain and fog, only happen for a small portion of the day. Therefore, it honestly might be best if you just kept an eye on the weather while completing other tasks in Lumiose, rather than skipping days to trigger a weather change.

If you notice the weather changes to what you need, go ahead and save so you can back out and restart if you miss catching the Pokemon you need during that weather.

Pokemon Spawns That Change Based On Weather

As mentioned, there are several Pokemon you won’t be able to find unless the right weather conditions are met. For the most part, the majority of the weather conditions won’t affect spawn rates, but Clear Skies and Rain will. For a complete list of the Pokemon that only spawn under certain weather conditions, please see the table below:

Weather

Pokemon Spawns

Clear Skies or Intense Sun

  • Riolu
  • Helioptile
  • Eevee
  • Skarmory— Will also spawn in Cloudy

Rain

  • Goomy — only near bodies of water.
  • Sliggoo— only near bodies of water.

Of course, there are other Pokemon that only spawn during specific weather conditions, but they are not currently in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and thus have no relevance here.

How To Evolve Sliggoo Into Goodra During Rainy Weather

Trainer posed next to a happy Goodra in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

At this time, the only Pokemon that requires a certain weather condition to evolve is Sliggoo. To evolve Sliggoo into Goodra, you will need to raise Sliggoo to level 50 and then wait for it to start raining. As mentioned, you can trigger a change in the weather by resting on benches, but be careful.

Weather conditions end rather quickly, so if you don’t want to waste your time, then make sure you already have a Sliggoo leveled up and ready to evolve before you start skipping days to change the weather. Once you notice it’s raining, make sure Sliggoo is in your party, and you should see the option to evolve.
