How To Find And Evolve Charcadet In Pokemon Legends: Z-A

How To Find And Evolve Charcadet In Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Among the new Pokemon added to Pokemon Legends: Z-A in the Mega Dimension DLC is the one and only Charcadet. This unique Gen 9 Pokemon features two evolutionary lines, both of which you can get in Legends: Z-A, but it’ll be a bit tricky.

Charcadet will be available relatively early on via Hyperspace Distortion Wild Zones, but to get Armarouge or Ceruledge, you’ll need to track down a side mission. Unfortunately, that side mission will also only give you one evolution, which means you’ll need to put in some extra work to get both.

How To Get Charcadet

To find Charcadet, all you need to do is check the Hyperspace Distortion Wild Zones appearing in Lumiose. Charcadet typically appears in 2-Star Distortions, but unfortunately, the Distortions are randomized. So, you may spawn one immediately with a Charcadet inside, and you may not spawn one for a while. It’s all a matter of luck.

Once you do spot one, though, you’ll need a Donut from Ansha with a matching star rating to enter and increase your odds of catching one. Inside a Distortion, you should find several groups of Charcadet, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch one.

If you’re looking for an Alpha or a shiny, you can keep resetting the spawns by putting some distance between you and the group, but just watch your time. After you’ve managed to catch one, or two if you’re filling out your Pokedex, all you need to do is head out of the Distortion and get started on evolving them.

While you will be able to find Charcadet in the Hyperspace Distortion Wild Zones, you won’t be able to evolve it just yet. As you may remember from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Charcadet needs an item to evolve into either of its two evolutionary lines. For Armarouge, you’ll need the Auspicious Armor, and for Ceruledge you’ll need the Malicious Armor.

To gain access to these items, you’ll first need to initiate Side Mission 132: Bitter Blue Flames Vs. Blazing Crimson, which can be found between Vert Sector 7 and Vert Sector 8. The easiest way to get there is to fast travel to Racine Construction and then take the road to the left of the building. There, you’ll find a man named Adver who will ask you to become his rival.

He should be easy enough to spot since he’ll be standing next to a Charcadet on the road. As you continue speaking with him, he will offer you either the Auspicious Armor or the Malicious Armor. You can choose either one, and he will hand it over. After you’ve selected which one you would like, he’ll use the other to evolve his Charcadet as well.

Finally, Adver would like a one-on-one battle with his evolved Charcadet vs. yours. Since it’s a one-on-one, you’ll need to remove all the other Pokemon in your party to initiate the battle. At that point, Adver will engage you in a very dramatic rivals skit before the battle actually begins. Adver’s Armarouge or Ceruledge will be level 60, but you don’t actually need to win this battle to finish the side mission.

Unfortunately, Adver won’t give you the other armor or duplicates, so for now, you’ll be stuck with the Charcadet you evolved. So ensure the one you evolve for the quest, whether it’s a shiny or an Alpha, is the one you want.

As mentioned, you’ll only get one singular armor to start with, so to get the other evolution or just another of the one you already have, it’s unfortunately likely that it won’t be available in one of the shops or at Racine Construction until the DLC’s post-game.

You can, of course, trade for the other evolution, but given that everyone will only have one for most of the game, it’s unlikely anyone will be willing to trade it away permanently, unless they’ve finished the DLC. That said, you can still trade to fill in the Pokedex and then trade back.
