In GreedFall: The Dying Planet, you complete the ceremony but then are captured, taken aboard a ship, and imprisoned in a strange land. When you awake, you are released from the cell by a stranger claiming to help you, but your escape is still entirely down to you.
You’ll have to make your way out of the prison through the sewers, then fight your way out of the refugee camp. Here is everything you need to know about completing the main quest ‘The Escape’ in GreedFall: The Dying World.
How To Escape The Prison And Refugee Camp
After waking in a cell, you realize you have been captured along with your two friends. Unfortunately, one of the companions dies, leaving your and your other friend bereft.
You are released by a stranger, and after gathering your clothes and items from a chest in the cell opposite, you must all make your way through the tunnels and out into the new land.
After escaping the prison, you must find your way to a refugee camp where more of your people are hiding out. There, you will have to fight your way to freedom once again, escaping a horrifying giant creature.

Prison Tunnels Walkthrough
To escape the tunnels under the prison, you should head in the direction of the quest marker as much as possible, but don’t forget to explore every corner and dead-end on your way. Each tunnel and caved-in section has loot and resources to pick up as you explore.
After dropping into a lit section of the excavation tunnels, you will come across some giant crustaceans called majida. These are heavily armored beasts with hefty claws that can deal damage. Fight them off by approaching them behind as another in your party fights from the front. With two people fighting each individual majida, it shouldn’t take too long to beat them, and when you do, you will gain resources, gold and EXP.
Activate the lever and make your way through the metal gates to get to the Upper Sewers. In these tunnels there are more majida to fight off. Keep heading towards the quest marker until you get to another lever. Activate it to get through the gates.
If you don’t feel like fighting, just run past the red line and out of the fighting area, and the battle will end.
Across the sewer pipe is another locked gate, but with no lever to the left of it. Instead, you need to activate the lever to the left of the gate you just exited.
After exploring the tunnels and looting the surrounding areas, you will get to the Maintenance Zone. This area has an upper section with two working levers and one broken lever, and a lower section with metal gates.
When you go down to investigate the gates in the lower section, guards will appear, and you’ll have to fight them off before you can move onto solving the puzzle.
After disposing of the guards, check the levers at the top area. The left lever will be pushed forward, the second pulled back, and the third is stuck. You have two choices to fix the lever: either find some lubrication to unstick it, or fix it using your mechanism skill.
It is worth attempting to fix the lever using your mechanism skill first, just in case it works first time.
If you cannot fix it yourself, try the levers until the gate behind you opens. Inside is a chest with loot inside, including the thick oil you require. Use it to unstick the lever and then activate the levers, so the first two are pushed forward, and the third is pulled back.
This action will trigger more guards appearing, and your party will have to fight them to escape. Make sure to heal up before moving on because that was not the last fight you’ll encounter in these tunnels.
At the Sewer Exit, you’ll fight off more majida, before pulling the lever at the top of the stone steps to open the gate and leave the sewer and enter Olima: Science Quarter.
Refugee Camp Walkthrough
As you exit the sewers, you’ll meet Ludwig who you should add to your party before continuing. The next step is to find Ludwig’s contact, a fisherman who is usually found by the river. When you look for him in his usual spot, he is not there, and you must follow his tracks until you discover what has happened to him.
If you head left instead of right after checking the fishing spot, you will find the Rock Bottom side quest, which coincides with the main quest nicely.
The tracks take you to a bandit camp with a wooden cabin. Here, you will speak to the bandit leader and try to negotiate the release of the fisherman. Let them think you are going to help them discover some treasure, but before leaving, sneak behind the cabin and take out a lone guard there. He has a key to the cabin which you can use to free the prisoner.
Escape undetected to finish this part of the quest, and the fisherman will take you to the refugee camp. Here, you’ll meet Ladan, and discover that the earth is sick. After looking around and speaking to some of the folk there, guards appear and attack the camp.
Ladan tries to draw energy from the earth, but because it is sick, she turns into a huge monstrous creature instead, the Nadaig Gigelas.
The creature has a huge claw on its right arm, which it uses to smash the ground and swipe at attackers. It also starts with 5700 health, and 10 shield.
The creature has a few moves, and mostly it is best to either hit it from afar, or if that isn’t possible, run in for a few hits and then back off when it sweeps or smashes with its claw. It sweeps in an arc on the ground to damage anyone in front of it, but it also can sweep in a circle, so if you are attacking from behind, watch out for that move.
Occasionally, the Nadaig Digelas will smash the ground three times, causing a boulder to drop from the ceiling. It can also grab the pillars behind it and use them as a weapon.
After the health has depleted, there is a cutscene where you and your party must flee. As you run, red circles appear on the ground, showing where boulders will crash onto the path ahead of you. Avoid being crushed to death by running and not stopping until you get to the end of the tunnel.
You will eventually reach a village, where there will be a final cutscene, and your party escape on a boat, taking one of the guards with you. The next land you get to will be Uxantis, the homeland of the Nauts.
