Where Winds Meet has dozens of boss fights strewn throughout the world. Some can be found simply by exploring the open world, while others are only fought during specific quests.
Dao Lord is a quest boss that you’ll fight during the second chapter of the game’s main story, and proves to be one of the more overwhelming and unpredictable fights in the game. Below, you can find a complete walkthrough for this boss fight.
Dao Lord Boss Location
Dao Lord is found near the end of the Unbound Cavern Campaign quest, which unlocks during the Accident main story quest during Chapter 2 of the main story. After selling treasure basins and dealing with the authorities, you’ll be required to complete this Campaign quest to continue with the main story.

Dao Lord Boss Fight Walkthrough
Most of Dao Lord’s attacks will build up Blind; this status effect will reduce your field of vision and disengage your target lock. If you’re blinded, take care when avoiding the boss’s attacks.
Dao Lord will begin the fight by performing a spinning attack, in which it will stand up straight for a second, then spin around while sweeping with its weapon several times in a row, before finishing with a head slam.
The window between each hit is the same, so you can press the parry button at equal intervals to parry them all. There’s a slight delay before the headbutt, however, so keep that in mind.
Occasionally, Dao Lord will perform just the final spin and headbutt portion of this attack, with a similar wind-up to the full version of this attack.
When you see Dao Lord pull its spear back, get ready for it to quickly charge forward. This attack is more easily parried the more distance is between you and the boss.
One of Dao Lord’s more dangerous attacks begins with it bringing its arms out to the side, then rapidly thrusting forward, dealing multiple hits of damage, before finishing with a powerful stab. Parry or dodge through these hits.
Dao Lord has two slashing attacks, one that hits twice in narrow diagonal slashes, and another that hits with a sweep. The parry timing on these is pretty tight, but manageable with practice.
When you’re a certain distance away from the boss, it may throw three waves of projectiles at you. Ranged users need to be wary of this attack, but parrying each hit is a good way to get some Qi damage in.
Phase 2
Once you deplete Dao Lord’s health bar, it will split into three smaller enemies, each wielding a different weapon. Individually, they aren’t the most dangerous, but things can get tricky when they all attack at once. In general, running away can help to separate them.
The Hammer and Dagger-wielding Dao Lords have red attacks. The Hammer will charge up before jumping at you with a slamming attack; parry just before it reaches you to counterattack.
Similarly, the Dagger Dao Lord will dash at you with the spear, which can be parried to perform a counterattack.
Eventually, the three will burrow into the ground, briefly popping up to throw projectiles at you. When they pop out of the ground, hit them with an arrow to knock them down and prevent their attack. This will repeat a few times.
Overall, take down each of the trio one at a time, and you’ll make it through this phase just fine. While fighting three enemies at once can be overwhelming at first, their attacks are a lot less dangerous than during the first half of the fight.
