Mewgenics is here and is everything you wished it would be, offering dark, disturbing humor with a remarkably fun gameplay loop that will have you locked in for hours on end as you uncover new and creative horrors that can evicerate your entire squad without blinking an eye. If you’re looking for a fun time even when your cats are being manhandled by what can only be described as a sad blob with a happy poo on its head, then this is the one for you.
Are you looking for a slime? What about a Big Slime? If so, then you’re also in luck, as this game has you covered there as well. While this encounter may not be the most technical or forboding, it can still trip you up, especially since it’s found within the Cave region, meaning you may be all banged up or out of crucial resources to fend off this adorable gelatin-esque creature!
Big Slime Overview
Found at the halfway point of the Caves region in the first act, the Big Slime will look to end your long-winded run in Mewgenics, forcing you to go back to the drawing board with new and, hopefully, better cats. This mini-boss doesn’t have much going for it in terms of attack variety, but it can still overwhelm you if you get too carried away, leading to your downfall for being greedy.
Mewgenics: Boris Boss Guide
Here’s how to defeat Boris, a massive sludge monster found deep in the Sewers of Mewgenics’ first act!
Briefly, before we go over its moves, gimmicks, and how to counter them, we want to showcase our recommended units and share some additional information that may be useful to you about Big Slime. Being a mini-boss found in the Caves, you can expect it to be a fair bit more challenging than most other bosses you encountered, but with foresight and strategy, you won’t struggle a bit!

As you’re likely well aware by now, when you defeat a Mini-Boss or Final Boss of a region, they will often drop items, which are largely RNG. Although they come from a specific pool, the possibilities could be endless, so the list above isn’t complete yet. But rest assured, we will keep on top of it and steadily update it if/when we earn new drops when taking down Big Slime!

For this encounter, and pretty much all of the game’s first act, if we’re being realistic, our recommended party will consist of the Fighter, Hunter, Tank, and Cleric. With this team composition, you have excellent defense with the Tank, a hard-hitting DPS in the Fighter, and can snipe things with ease as the Hunter. Not only that, but if things take a sudden turn for the worse, your Cleric can keep things in your favor with clutch heals.
If you’re looking to make a run through the Caves specifically, we recommend sticking with the Cleric over the Mage, as its ability to heal units and even revive them with unique abilities is unmatched and can ensure you get across the finish line, no matter how intense the battle was to get from A to B. However, if this is your second time through the Cave but your first time against the Big Slime, running a Thief over the Fighter will also be solid!
How To Defeat Big Slime
Big Slime, no matter how adorable it may appear, is secretly a menace. Okay, that may be pushing it, but it can quickly overwhelm you if you let it, so we will guide you through all of its moves and tricks, showing you how to counter them to avoid falling in its traps. Overall, this encounter isn’t terrible by any means once you know what to expect, as the Big Slime only has one attack!
Big Slime – Moving
Up first for Big Slime is its movement option, as it can deal damage to your units by simply moving onto the tile they’re on, pushing them back, and dealing a decent amount of damage. Surprisingly enough, the Big Slime doesn’t move all that much, allowing you to box it in and take advantage of its relatively slow Speed stat. While it will go two times per round, you should be able to carve through its health if you have it surrounded.
If at all possible, we recommend trying to position your Tank in front of Big Slime, as you want it to be drawn to them over the rest of your units. If you can’t swing that, no worries, ensure it doesn’t take down your Cleric, or things can go off the rails pretty quickly!
Big Slime – Tackle
Following that, the Big Slime will perform its Tackle, which has it charge forward and shoulder-check your unit, dealing a decent chunk of damage. Fortunately, it doesn’t pass through you or move much at all, keeping it locked in place so you can keep boxing it in and unleash a barrage of attacks. After the first round, it should basically be on its back foot, allowing you to finish it off in the second round.
To keep your other units alive and healthy, if your Tank has the ability to give other units armor or swap places with them to take an incoming attack, use them whenever possible, as you want your Tank to be on the frontlines here due to their large health pools and armor!
Four Medium Slimes – Tackle
After defeating the Big Slime, it will break apart into four Medium Slimes. Surprise! Okay, we all saw this coming, right? The good news is that they only have 16 HP, allowing you to finish them off relatively quickly. They will also only perform a Tackle attack, but it will do less damage compared to the Big Slime.
Since you boxed in the Big Slime, you should have a unit by each of the Medium Slimes, allowing you to eliminate them with ease. However, be very careful here, as you don’t want to accidentally overwhelm yourself, especially if one of your units is near death!
Four Small Slimes – Tackle
Defeating a Medium Slime will spawn four more Small Slimes. Surprise (again)! Wait, you saw this one coming, too? This is the stage of the fight where things get interesting, as they only have 4 HP a pop and can be eliminated with a single hit from any of your units. BUT, killing all four Medium Slimes in one go will have 16 Small Slimes on the arena, which can be a bit too much to deal with if you have a severely injured unit.
Fortunately, you have Hunter on your team who can utilize traps and familiars. If you can summon Flea Familiars or spawn Bear Traps or Bramble, use them here, as the Small Slimes will get caught up in them and die substantially faster. And, for the stragglers, the rest of your units can finish them off without breaking a sweat. They may not deal all that much damage, but if five to six of them attack a single unit, they’re likely cooked!
