Like most survival games of its ilk, Everwind will rely heavily on the use of foods to replenish your health when you take damage in all the fights you’ve got ahead of you. As such, learning how best to use your resources to make the best food in Everwind will be essential before long.
The Cooking Station will easily be one of your most frequented in Everwind, especially as you inch into new biomes and begin finding the dozens of unique ingredients spread across the vast pixel world. Pop some wood onto the fire and get ready to start cooking!
It’s important to remember that since the game is procedurally generated, we can’t give precise locations on how to unlock all recipes in Everwind. We’ve got a full list of recipes from the Food & Drink category to help you gather the ingredients you need for when it’s time to get cooking.
Cooking Overview
If you’ve been playing survival games like Everwind for a while, then you may be unsurprised to see that cooked meals replenish HP lost in battle, so you’ll want to prepare as much as you can for this ahead of time. With your introduction to cooking in Everwind coming early on in your first settlement, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the mechanic early and keeping a stock of food on you at all times when you’re not at any kind of home base.
This is because even despite your armor and weapons and prowess in battle, it’s all but inevitable that you’ll take damage anytime you’re off the ship exploring. Though you’re able to eat raw ingredients in a pinch to restore lost HP, it’s always better to save ingredients for use in meals, since these are almost always going to restore a better amount of HP.
You’ll see plenty of these effects having a healing impact over time, so it’s best to eat one big meal and heal progressively whenever possible.
here are a handful of ingredient types you’ll use in cooked recipes, which include:
- Herbs, things like flowers and tubers you’ll find across various biomes, growing in grassy areas, in the water, and more.
- Mushrooms, which grow plentifully around your starting area, so it’s always wise to stock up, since they make a good basic meal that’ll take you far in your earliest hours.
- Produce like berries and veggies that grow around the biomes natively and can be farmed as you progress through the game.
- Creature Loot, such as meat and eggs dropped or collected from animals you and your friends have been fighting on the islands.
No matter what kinds of meals you’re looking to make with these ingredients, you’ll need to use a Cooking Station to make meals, which will need to routinely have fuel in the fire to keep the flames going and your food coming. At the Cooking Station, you’ll see every cooking recipe you’ve unlocked so far in Everwind, able to make anything for which you’ve got the ingredients in your inventory.
Be sure to collect your food once it’s finished to reap the most benefit from cooking in Everwind. You’ll see your Cooking Station steam when the cooked foods are ready to be collected and consumed to ensure you don’t forget. They don’t seem to have any kind of expiration metric, though, so you can always cook in bulk as ingredients become available to you (either by things you’ve been finding out and about on the islands or creature loot you’ve fought hard to earn) and stash prepared meals in a chest for when you’re ready to leave the airship again to venture forth.
To unlock new recipes, you’ve got a bit of work to do, since recipes do not unlock automatically. It doesn’t matter if you’ve eaten that meal before, and if you have the ingredients on hand as well. You’ll need to find and unlock recipes around the world as you explore, so be sure to keep an eye out. They can often be found in settlements, when you’re feeling brave enough to head into one.
Even if you don’t find the recipes themselves, you can usually pillage some tasty morsels from the enemies you’re raiding. It’s great in a pinch if you either don’t have great healing recipes, or you forgot your cooked dishes back on the ship when you set out to quest across an island. Check treasure chests and cabinets in any settlement you come across!
Some recipes, though, are for replenishing stamina instead of health. You’ll find that most of the beverages in Everwind are stamina regenerators, while meals and stews are more for health replenishment. Pair them with smart skill tree upgrades to make the most of your time out adventuring and fighting as needed.
Either way, it’s a good idea to keep some of both kinds of meals on you, stamina replenishment and healing meals alike, when you go to adventure across an island, especially as you get into the higher altitudes and come across far more difficult enemies than the Mortivar foes you’ve been dealing with down in the first atmospheric level.
Recipe List
In the table below, you’ll find every recipe available at the Cooking Station in Everwind, along with the ingredients you’ll need to prepare each one. To help you keep straight what’s what in the still-expanding cooking recipe list for Everwind, we’ve broken our table down into two sections: one that contains all the meals that will help you restore lost HP from battle or falls, as well as a second section below that it provides information on the various stamina regeneration beverages and tonics that you can also learn to craft at a Cooking Station.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to have learned this recipe yourself before being able to cook it! Having the ingredients in your pocket isn’t enough, since Everwind doesn’t currently feature a kind of free cooking mechanic of any kind.
