It’s finally time to take on Tytos the Thunderblade in Octopath Traveler 0 to complete the Master of Power storyline. Having destroyed several families and individuals, Tytos doesn’t seem to care who he destroys on his path to reach his own goals, and it’s up to you and your party, working with Velnorte once again, to finally put a stop to him.
Now that he has a plan to seize ultimate power with the help of Velnorte and his research, he poses an even more imminent threat, and anyone who opposes him will have to deal with the consequences. Here’s how to finally defeat Tytos.
How To Complete Tytos The Thunderblade
The first thing you’ll need to do is head to Emberglow and meet up with Velnorte once again to try and stop Tytos. After a cutscene, you’ll be tasked with aiding the hunter in hunting down a snow yak to help the woman in the snow.
Travel through the Emberglow Slopes, and you’ll come to a familiar spot while meeting up with the hunter, and you’ll have to fight a pair of Snow Yak.

There’s nothing too major to deal with regarding them, just watch out for their large AoE attack and don’t let your health get too low. You have the means to break them, so focus on one at a time, deal some good AoE damage, and you’ll quickly defeat them.
Scholar is a great class here, giving you the option to hit both of them for a large amount of damage multiple times.
After you defeat the Yak’s, follow the quest marker and head to the Hunters’ House. After a few cutscenes, you’ll come across another fight, this time with Jurgen yet again. This time, he has a few new moves as well, but overall, he’ll do the same thing he did in the previous fight.

Jurgen returns, this time with Mass Lethargy Sting to hit a single party member and have the chance to make them susceptible to damage. Venomous Sting, as before, hits a single person and leaves them poisoned. He also has Triple Piercing Thrust, which hits the party at random three times.
Aside from having more shield points and health, this process will go the same as your original boss battle against Jurgen, as he even has the same weaknesses, but this time you’ve got more party members and even more options.
Once defeated, Jurgen runs off as you watch another cutscene play out. Then you’ll be asked to join Rinyuu and the Hunter Dimitri as you head back through the Emberglow Slopes and to Velnorte’s house. After a few more cutscenes, you’ll head to the Ceremonial Square.

Head through the area, checking all the houses for chests and treasure, then move toward the cathedral for another cutscene. Afterwards, explore the Cathedral of Tytos, checking every room along the way and following the quest marker.
Eventually, you’ll come across Tytos. It’s time to confront him for his actions in Wishvale, among everything else.

This first fight against Commander Tytos is just a preview of things to come. The fight itself isn’t too difficult, you’ll just keep the usual fare of paying attention to where your BP is, who has it, and stacking it up to help break him.
If your protagonist is a scholar for this fight and the next, you’ll have help dishing out large boosted elemental damage against his weakness.
The terror status means you’ll not be able to reliably boost as you would before, so while you can’t boost at all, you will want to swap in characters who can.
Alternatively, you can leave these terror-inflicted characters in the front row and have their basic attacks help to break Commander Tytos while the others gain BP in the back row. Then, swap the rows to help quickly break him. Luckily the terror status only lasts a few turns.
You do have to be careful, as though it only targets a single party member, dropping anyone down to a single hit point is always dangerous. Your best asset here will be healers. While it’s slightly true here, it’s even more important in the second phase.
You’ll be able to survive most of everything he throws your way during this phase, with HP regen from Vim and Vigor and buffing help from Velnorte in the back row.
Once he’s defeated, you’ll see a cutscene before moving on to phase two. When you do, however, you will not be healed in between phases, so ensure that before you take out Commander Tytos, you heal up and use items as necessary to start the second phase off right.

As soon as the battle begins, Velnorte will cast Enhanced Remedy, giving increased Physical Attack, Physical Defense, Elemental Attack, and Elemental Defense for the entire party. He will also consistently cast Heal All, placing Vim and Vigor on the front row for continual healing for its duration. You will absolutely need this, because this fight is difficult.
Tytos the Thunderblade starts every turn by creating an energy-draining barrier. This barrier will reduce 1 BP from everyone at the end of the turn while it’s active.
This means your strategy here should be a bit different. Instead of saving BP, you should use it while the field is up, so you won’t lose it. Once you break him, the BP you’ve lost at the end of the turn will be returned to you.
This makes it even more imperative that you focus on using your BP with the front row to break him, as you’ll get it back when he’s broken and can still use it against him.
When he reverts from being broken, he will once again cast the energy-draining barrier, and he will increase his shield points. This can get up to 25 shield points you’ll have to fight through while being strapped for BP, as one point is sapped at the end of each turn while the energy field is still active.
You’ll have to fight through a lot of back-to-back damage from Tytos here, and you’re going to want to keep at least two characters with First Aid ready to heal anyone who is down.
If you really want help, you should recruit Pius or Saoirse. Pius can heal the entire front or back row, while Saoirse can give Vim and Vigor stacks to the front and back row as well if you unlock those skills. This will be super helpful if you’re unable to survive.
The hardest part here will be that so many of the attacks are AoE, hitting the entire front row, and they can hit hard. Several attacks hit the whole row multiple times as well, meaning you’ll have to get comfortable with swapping rows and healing up as necessary.
A good strategy is to move injured party members to the back row for protection and heal the entire row when you can.
As long as you can handle all the incoming damage and swap properly, you’ll survive the onslaught Tytos the Thunderblade will throw at you.
Tytos Boss Fight Rewards
Once you defeat Tytos the Thunderblade, you’ll watch the final cutscene and have completed the Master of Power storyline. For your efforts, you’ll get the Brutal Sweep Mastery. This Mastery allows the equipped user to deal sword damage to all foes twice. With that, you’ve completed this section.
