How To Beat One-Armed Hero Lyle In Code Vein 2

How To Beat One-Armed Hero Lyle In Code Vein 2

Of Code Vein 2‘s heroes of the past, Lyle is the least approachable. He is in debt to the Dawn Chorus, the mercenary band that saved him, but is determined to never put them in harm’s way, and built up a stony exterior to keep others at arm’s length.

So it is a particular cruelty that by the Present Era, that isolation left him without being able to ask for her, and resulted in the loss of both the Dawn Chorus and his arm, and an incredibly tragic boss fight.

Where Do You Fight One-Armed Hero Lyle?

As you enter the Corroded Scar region, you enter into the Forward Base One area, and Lyle’s cocoon is sitting right in the middle of camp. In fact, you can encounter this incredibly early in the game, though it’s not until later that you can actually interact with it.

After you’ve visited Lyle’s Era and finished all there is to see, you’re free to unseal his cocoon and put him to rest after a century of suffering.

One-Armed Hero Lyle Moveset

Hero Lyle holding his massive sword in Code Vein 2.

Unlike the Lyle you fought alongside in the past, this version of Lyle is slow, heavy, and lumbering. His strikes are heavy, though he does still have a deceptive speed. He also retains the lightning element in all of his attacks.

Here are all of the attacks across his two phases:

  • Phase One

    Move

    Description

    Dragging Slash

The boss drags their massive sword along the ground and chases you a short distance before attacking in a swing.

    Heavy Swing Combo

The boss performs slow swings with the weapon that hit fairly close to them.

    Delayed Swings

Like the Heavy Swings, the boss performs multiple slashes with long delays, though with a wider reach.

    Heavy Overhead Slam

The boss reels back their weapon before slamming it down in front of them.

    Stabbing Dash

The boss points their sword forward before dashing towards you suddenly. Can be followed-up with a delayed downward slash.

  • Phase Two

    Move

    Description

    Leaping Slam

The boss leaps into the air with all of their weapons before slamming down, causing an electric shock all around them.

    Trio Slash Electric Wave

The boss slashes with each weapon, sending out an electric wave each time. Both the weapon hit and the electric wave can deal damage.

    Lightning Bolts

The boss stabs their massive sword into the ground, causing a series of lightning bolts to rain down around them and to chase you.

Dragging Slash + Overhead Downward Slash

Opens with the Dragging Slash from the first phase, and is immediately followed by the two extra arms performing downward slashes as well.

As such, it is best to dodge to the sides to avoid this attack.

    Double Swing And Stab

The boss swings quickly with all three weapons twice before ending with a full forward stab with all three. This has a wide reach and range.

    Slam And Outward Slash

The boss performs a downward slam with their upper arms, and then slashes outward with both of them. Because of the range, it is best to dodge into these attacks.

    Furious Slashes

The boss enters a flurry, attacking wildly with all of their attacks while following you. This attack is very hard to consistently dodge or block, so try to dodge out of his range to escape the bulk of the attack.

    Retreating Spin

The boss performs a spinning slash while moving away from you.

In the first phase, Lyle is relatively simple, and lacks lightning to his attacks, though still hits hard. In his second phase, he retains all of his older moves, but now has additional hits and the lightning element on them.

Phase One

In Lyle’s first phase, honestly, he’s incredibly manageable. He is slow enough that it’s easy to react to most of his moves, and he has no ranged capabilities and not too many moves that can close the distance. As such, you can safely back away when you need a breather.

Learning the timing of his attacks is the hardest part of the fight as they can have delays on them that are every so slightly longer than you expect. You can safely dodge into most of them though to keep close.

Phase Two

In Lyle’s second phase, not only is he much faster and more aggressive, he also gains a multitude of moves that increase his range, both in terms of his physical strikes, and the electric waves he can fire at range. As such, you need to be much more mobile to keep alive.

Unfortunately, most of his attacks are too strong to be deflected, so you need to be good at dodging here. Because of this, you’ll want at least a medium dodge to be able to avoid his attacks, since even a high Balance will be cut through by his attacks.

Keeping your companion out is helpful here to aggro some of Lyle’s attacks, such as the lightning bolts and, if you’re lucky, the Furious Slashes. Having some ranged attacks of your own is helpful here, be it Bayonet attacks or magic forma, since the speed of Lyle’s attacks make it hard to stay close to him for long.

After beating him, you’ll be rewarded with the One-Armed Hero Lyle Blood Code.
