Each pet you come across has a unique blend of traits and features so that now two dogs are exactly the same. However, you’ll need to treat them well if you want to build a positive relationship with them.
We’ll break down everything you need to know to unlock a dog for adoption and raise them to learn new tricks. From the moment you bring them home, your dog is part of the family, so here’s everything you need to know to treat them like it!
How To Unlock The Dog Caring Hobby
In order to gain access to pet adoption, you’ll need to reach Developer Guild level 12 by completing several days worth of Resident Requests. Once you upgrade your level, you’ll be able to visit the adoption center and speak to Mrs. Joan.

You’ll need to exchange a Hobby Expansion Ticket to unlock the Dog Caring hobby, which can only be done after you’ve unlocked all other hobbies, including Cat Caring.
How To Adopt A Dog
When you visit the adoption center, you’ll see three cats and three dogs available for adoption. These change each day, so if you don’t see one you like, you can always come back later.
Don’t worry about which one you adopt first! You can adopt up to three different dogs as you increase your hobby level.
When you find a dog you like, you can approach them and offer to adopt them. When you do, you’ll need to pay 500g to cover a physical exam. Then, once that’s done, you can name the dog and bring them home! Make sure to visit Mrs. Joan regularly to stock up on items like food for your dog, as well as costumes you can purchase.
You can change your dog’s name later after they’ve been adopted.

How To Increase Your Bond With Your Dog
Once you have a dog at your home, you can play with them as much as you’d like. The Pet app in your watch will let you monitor and track each of your dogs, so you can make sure they’re not going hungry or running low on energy.
To feed them, get close and tap on the food bowl icon. You can feed them dog food or other snacks you have in your inventory to replenish their hunger bar.
When you select the train option, you can work on teaching your dog a new command, like Seek Treasure, Shake Head, or Give Paw! As you continue to level up, you’ll unlock even more moves and tricks to teach your furry friend.
Teaching tricks requires you to watch the move that your dog makes and either applaud it for doing the right trick or reprimand it for doing something different.
Once your dog learns a trick, you’ll earn stars in the Doggie Time Collection book, which will unlock new rewards like costumes and currency for you to splurge on your beloved pet. Make sure to take a picture of the pose for your journal!
When your dog gets dirty, you’ll need to select the Pet Wash option to give them a bath. This is done by pressing the tub button at each stage of the cleaning to safely wash, rinse, and dry your dog.
When your dog is clean, you’ll receive a buff in their profile letting you know!
Finally, you can take your dog out with you as you explore the town by choosing the Go Out option. This lets them travel around with you, but keep in mind that they can only move so fast.
If you get too far away from your dog, they’ll return home and the walk will end. Use this feature to take your dog out for a tour of the town or take them to visit your friends!
As your bond increases, your pets are more likely to bring you gifts!

Upgrading your skill level for the Dog Caring hobby is as simple as feeding, playing with, and looking after your dog. You’ll earn points for your interactions and spend Hobby Upgrade Tickets to increase your level.
