In an interview that went live before Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s launch but has only just been highlighted, Team Cherry noted that potential future games will “exist alongside” each other.
Even though we all just spent nearly a decade waiting for Hollow Knight: Silksong to launch, now that it’s out and mostly exceeded all of our expectations, it’s hard not to think about what Team Cherry might do next. We know it’s committed to DLC for Silksong, but it’s surely got some ideas for its next big game, right?
Well, we’re probably not going to know that for a long time yet, but Team Cherry has actually spoken about what might be next for it after Silksong. In fact, it actually did so right before the launch of the long-awaited game in an interview that’s only just being discovered and shared around.
Team Cherry Says Future Hollow Knight Games Will Exist Alongside Silksong And The Original
I’m Taking That As A Chance That More Games Are Being Considered
As highlighted by GamesRadar+, Team Cherry leads Ari Gibson and William Pellen chatted about the Hollow Knight series in an interview with the AMCI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), which you might remember as the place with the Silksong exhibition. That interview was published in a paperback book that’s currently on the AMCI store.
I Don’t Think 2025 Has A Clear-Cut GOTY, And That’s A Good Thing
“But Expedition 33!” I know, I hear you.
At one point in the interview, Gibson notes that players won’t feel “lost” if they go back to the original Hollow Knight after playing Silksong. Gibson also pointed out that if there were ever “others”, the team hopes that they’d follow the “same pattern” since the series is “all games that just exist alongside one another”.
And if there were ever others, we would hope that they all follow that same pattern – that the series is all games that just exist alongside one another. – Ari Gibson
While Gibson is clearly talking hypothetically about another Hollow Knight game, it does at least make it sound like Team Cherry is considering more entries in the series at some point. Considering how long Silksong actually took to make and the fact that it’s got at least some DLC in the works, though, I wouldn’t go counting on a new standalone game any time soon.
