We’re nearly five full days into Highguard’s release, and while things aren’t looking good, specifically when it comes to player counts, where the game has quickly fallen behind some of the other more divisive titles in Steam’s history.
That said, on PlayStation, fans are seemingly enjoying the game, or at least enjoying the prospect of earning the Platinum Trophy. So much so that, as of this writing, at least 54 people, per PSNProfiles, have the Platinum.
The list, which consists of 33 Trophies; 20 Bronze, 7 Silver, 5 Golds and the single Platinum, is seeing some heavy completions. Whether that has to do with the potential for the game to eventually shut down or because people genuinely think Highguard is great remains to be seen.
For what it’s worth, the first achiever of the Platinum, per PSNProfiles, did like it. It takes about 18 hours, and it’s rather straightforward.
“I never expected to raw dog the Platinum, but as i was playing with friends I realized the Trophies aren’t too bad, so i just kept going,” the achiever wrote on Reddit.
That number of 54 figures to go up within the next few days, as PSNProfiles users are actively recruiting for a “Boosting Session.” That should help with some of the more tricky requirements.
Highguard’s Failure Shouldn’t Matter This Much
Highguard has become a talking point for gaming artistry, instead of just a generic shooter that’s not as good as Apex Legends.
Go figure, while some Trophy hunters are deadset on boosting their Platinum counts with “easy” titles, there is another end of the spectrum that involves people tackling Trophies for games that are either bad or might get delisted.
We Only Need To Look At Concord And MindsEye To Know That People Love Pain
Nearly two years ago, when it was revealed that Concord would be shut down and the game no longer available to purchase, play or even download ever again, people began racing for the Platinum, knowing it would no longer be possible to earn.
To do so, they began figuratively killing themselves in-game because it was the fastest way to earn XP. However, even then, it was a marginal increase and those who ultimately did earn the Platinum spent considerable time.
Elsewhere, one of 2025s worst-reviewed titles, MindsEye, had a surprising number of people chasing and earning the Platinum. Once again, players suffered through bad gameplay to try and make something possible. In this case, MindsEye has not been delisted. It’s more of a badge of honor.
Consider Highguard part of that list.
After 10 Hours With Highguard, It Feels Like A Bad Apex Legends Update
After 10 hours, I’m not sure Highguard truly understands what it wants to be.
