Hi-Fi Rush’s Physical Release Is Getting Revealed Soon

Hi-Fi Rush’s fate as a video game is hanging in the balance. Sure, there are no signs that it’s going anywhere right now, but its status as a digital-only video game puts it in a more precarious position than others. Throw in the fact that it relies heavily on licensed music, and that its soundtrack was briefly delisted earlier this year, and you have a game that could potentially be lost to time like so many others have been in the past. If only we had a physical edition, right?

Well, one of those was supposed to be happening. Cast your mind all the way back to when Hi-Fi Rush’s PS5 port was announced, it was also confirmed at the time that the game would be getting a physical release. Unfortunately, Xbox decided that it would do something super smart and shut down Tango Gameworks (arguably its most talented developer), which was eventually saved by Krafton. Understandably, a physical version of Hi-Fi Rush was the last thing on people’s minds during all that turmoil.

Hi-Fi Rush’s Physical Release Is Getting Revealed Soon

Thankfully, the fine folks at Tango haven’t forgotten about that almost two-year-old promise, and it seems like something might be revealed soon. In a new Twitter post announcing back-to-back Steam sales for Hi-Fi Rush, it’s also mentioned that “something you can actually hold is on its way”, which couldn’t really be anything else other than that long-awaited physical release.

Hi-Fi Rush Had Its Denuvo Removed, And We All Know What Happened Next

Well, that was fast.

The bad news is that we have no idea what this physical release is going to look like. If I was a betting man, I’d gamble that Krafton would most likely go the Limited Run route, choosing to produce a limited number of physical copies rather than shell out for a wide-scale physical release, especially when sales for the game were never all that strong when it first released.

That’s probably not what many would want to hear, considering that Limited Run doesn’t have the greatest reputation amongst preservationists, but it is a company that a lot of big publishers turn to when it’s time to release a physical copy of something.
