Fortnite‘s new (and brilliant) SpongeBob collaboration technically includes Plankton, although I wouldn’t be surprised if some players just never notice him.
For a long time now, it’s been rumoured that SpongeBob SquarePants would somehow be joining Fortnite, which made some sense considering how Epic has already partnered with Paramount a few times now. That rumour finally came true yesterday, as SpongeBob and a ton of goodies linked to the series found their way to the Item Shop.
Although sidekick SpongeBob is undoubtedly the highlight of the whole drop, the collab as a whole has clearly been made with a lot of love for the source material. It might look like the yellow sponge is the only character from the series to appear so far, but there’s actually a few other characters from the series hiding in plain sight.
Plankton Is Part Of Fortnite’s SpongeBob Collab, Kind Of
Gary’s Also Along For The Ride
Once you’ve stopped staring at the Jellyfish Jam emote and SpongeBob sidekick, you’ll notice that the SpongeBob collab has a unique vehicle – the Patty Wagon from the first SpongeBob movie. Well, it’s kind of the Patty Wagon since it’s been changed up significantly, but the differences are made up for with a very cute easter egg.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans Of The Tide Review – Bob’s Best Since Battle For Bikini Bottom
Titans of the Tide is the best SpongeBob game in a long time, even if it’s lacking in laughs and length.
As pointed out by HYPEX, the Patty Wagon has an option for pickle wheels, and those wheels feature none other than Plankton, who has been squished and stuck to the left tire. Plankton doesn’t have any voice lines or movement, but it’s still a nice nod to the series, and one that a lot of players are going to miss.
Not only is Plankton pretty well camoflauged thanks to the pickle’s colours, but the wheels aren’t even the default set for the Patty Wagon. Maybe I’m projecting here, but not many Fortnite players seem that fussed on vehicles as a whole (especially with the high price), so it’s very likely that a good portion of players won’t even know that Plankton was included. Well, like me, now you do know!
