I don’t need to tell you Fortnite is gaming’s ultimate champion of IP crossovers. Everybody knows. Even folks such as myself, who have somehow gone our whole lives without installing the game, are well aware that there are virtually no limits to the collaboration potential inherent to Epic Games’ commercial juggernaut.
Every now and then, I still managed to be surprised by a crossover announcement. Or, as is the case with this hot little rumour, an unannounced upcoming event. Players of a certain age may soon be in for a return to bears, beets, and Battlestar Galactica; and yep, I chose that specific joke because I like Battlestar Galactica.
I’m Calling HR
Prolific Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR posted to YouTube a video that rounds up recent information, as is their custom. One thing stood out, at least to some: mention of the upcoming arrival of “a nostalgic duo from a live-action TV series.” Now, obviously, this alone does not remotely lock things down.
Shiina, however – and we appreciate the heads-up on this, Insider Gaming! – went on to say that it could very well be The Office. As IG’s own article notes, this does not mean it’s a given. So, grain-of-salt it, because the leaker themselves isn’t going as far as to call it a guarantee. If it happens, though… it’s kind of wild, innit?

The stars align?
Already, folks are theorizing who that duo might be. Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute feel likeliest to me; they’re the most iconic, which isn’t to say The Office wasn’t bursting with a beloved ensemble cast. I suppose Jim and Pam are more of a “duo,” but I’m not taking that word too literally. More that it’s simply, well, two characters. Which is about as many as I would tend to expect for a sitcom, and now I’m contemplating a world in which they’d add Frasier and Niles from an older, and even cooler, NBC sitcom. (I said what I said.)
Would you be keen on Dwight’s chances in a battle royale? With the right player, anything’s possible. We’re looking forward to finding out whether the rumour pans out. Also, would you, personally, prefer Pam Beesley and Jim Halpert? As I do? If so, leave a comment. Not because I’m engagement-farming, but because I need to know whether my coworker and me are alone in this sentiment.
