Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4 Has Fans Worried About G’raha Tia

Final Fantasy 14’s big Patch 7.4 update is finally here, which means that we get to spend more time running around Eorzea and beyond with our favorite cast of catboys and girls, that is if you can tear yourself away from your glamour dresser. This time, we got to dive into Krile’s backstory, truly leaving behind Dawntrail as Yoshi-P starts easing into the story of the next expansion.

As people started finishing off the MSQ, there were a lot of talking points and debates to be had, but one particularly surprising debate that has cropped up is all about G’raha Tia. It’s not about anything he does or where his character might go in the story, but rather what the heck is going on with his longtime voice actor Jonathan Bailey.

Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4 Has Fans Worried About G’raha Tia

Across social media, you’ll be able to find plenty of Final Fantasy 14 fans panicking over how G’raha Tia sounds, with some even suggesting that Bailey isn’t actually voicing the character in Patch 7.4. In certain scenes, you can see why too, as G’raha’s voice is much deeper than it normally is, and its different enough to spark all kinds of weird and wild theories.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Needs To Learn The Right Lessons From Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

The creators of Final Fantasy 7 Remake are in love with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and will no doubt strive to learn from it.

One of these theories is that Bailey has been temporarily replaced with another actor, as Jonathan Bailey is arguably one of the most famous people on the planet right now, having recently starred in Wicked 2 and named 2025’s Sexiest Man Alive by People. It’s possible that Bailey could have been booked solid and didn’t have enough time for Final Fantasy 14, but his love for the character makes me think it’s unlikely. He’d more likely make time to record dialogue for his favorite catboy.

Another, far more plausible theory, is that Bailey is voicing G’raha Tia in Patch 7.4, but that he’s absolutely knackered. Bailey is a pretty busy guy, and having just starred in a musical which will have had him singing for days on end, his throat may have ended up causing recording issues for G’raha. Bailey said in an interview for Bafta that he once recorded dialogue for G’raha with a swollen tongue, so not much will stop him recording lines that are needed.

Then there’s the possibility that Bailey is just recording remotely, as he likely wouldn’t have had time to visit recording booths that the rest of the cast might have used. There are plenty of reasons why G’raha Tia sounds different in this patch, so until we actually get those end credits and confirm it, there’s no point fretting. Enjoy the patch, go beat up a train, and cross your fingers that Jonathan Bailey just needs a lozenge or something.
