If you’re a fan of Nintendo games and want to see more of them coming to your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, then you’re in luck with the 3.0 update that dropped in January 2026 to bring a variety of new crossovers into ACNH, including but not limited to The Legend of Zelda.
There are over two dozen Zelda-themed items available to purchase as of the update, but you’ll need to first unlock access to the items before Tom Nook will allow you to actually purchase them. Here’s how to unlock the Zelda items in the ACNH 3.0 update!
How To Get The Zelda Villagers
If you were a fan of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom specifically and would like to bring a little flavor from the latest game in the mainline series onto your island, you can now invite either Tulin or Mineru to move in as a resident on your island.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Complete Guide To Resetti’s Reset Service
Your island got out of hand. Resetti has a plan.
To do so, you’ll need to also scan any Zelda amiibo at the Nook Stop at Resident Services, but it’s important to note that which villager you end up getting seems to be tied to the amiibo you scan, with some offering Tulin while others call Mineru instead.
After you’ve got the villager from the amiibo you scanned on the line, you’ll simply need to invite them to your campsite as you do with all the other Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers you’re trying to move in with amiibo functionality.
The game will warn you if there’s already a villager at your Campsite for the day, and you’ll have the option to either stop the scan and wait or ask the current camper to leave so your Zelda villager can swing by.
Speak to them a few times at your Campsite and pick a villager to have them replace after a few in-game days of trying to persuade them. They’ll move in the day after agreeing to do so, and you’ll be able to interact with and befriend them just like other ACNH villagers you already know and love.
How To Unlock Zelda-Themed Items
While plenty of Zelda veterans are going to be excited to get their hands on the 28 items added with the 3.0 update for ACNH, you won’t have access to them by default and will need to first unlock them before Tom Nook will sell them to you. In the collection, though, we’ve got a more than two dozen clothing, furniture, and home decor items.
To start accessing the Zelda collaboration items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, scan any Zelda amiibo at Resident Services on the Nook Stop machine there, which will provide access to every Zelda item.
After you’ve scanned the first of your Zelda amiibo, if you’ve got more than one, then you’ll find all 28 items unlock at once in the Nook Shopping Catalog also on said machine inside of the Resident Services building, in the Promotion menu at the top of the Special Items category. It’s also where you’ll find the Lego tie-in items from the 3.0 update, as well as the slew of Mario items added to the game several years beforehand.
Every Legend of Zelda item added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the 3.0 update in January 2026 can then be purchased with Bells and shipped to your house just like any other item from the catalog.
These items cannot be purchased yourself without first scanning any Zelda amiibo you’ve got, but if you’re without amiibo yourself and know a friend who has them and plays the game, anyone who unlocks the Zelda items from the collab will be able to gift the Zelda items to friends who don’t have amiibo the same way you’d gift any other item from the Nook Shopping catalog.
If you’re looking to invite Tulin or Mineru, you can double up on your effectiveness here and simply unlock the items when you invite the TOTK character to your island. The items only unlock once, though, so if you’re only inviting one of them, you’re set to go after the first time you’ve scanned them.
