An extraction shooter isn’t an extraction shooter without a point to extract from safety, and in Arc Raiders, you’ll have plenty of options to leave from – if you can reach them on time. Every map you go raiding on has a limited number of extraction spots, and once they’re gone, and you’re out of time, you’re dead.
Whenever you start a raid, your first priority is to locate the extraction points and find the best route to get there while scavenging. You might just die trying to get to them, or in the process of extracting, but that’s the risk that Raiders take every time they go to the surface.
On every map you play, you’ll load in at one of several random points, and you’ll have 30 minutes to do whatever you need to before you need to extract at one of several pre-determined extraction points, signified on the map by either a downwards arrow, a train car, or a fan symbol.
Extraction Points appear as Elevators, Train Stations, or Air Shafts, depending on the map, and upon arriving, you’ll need to locate the console that calls the extraction point to you.
- Elevators appear at The Dam and the Spaceport, and the activation console is right outside the elevator.
- Train Stations appear at The Buried City. Each one has multiple entrances that lead to the same station, and the activation console is underground in the station, against the gated train tracks.
- Air Shafts appear at The Blue Gate, and the activation console is right outside the shaft.
For some extraction points, such as the Train Station, you’ll need to fight your way into it before you activate the computer, but in return, it’s slightly less likely for there to be any nearby ARC enemies that will come to you.
When you reach an extraction point and activate the console that controls it, a warning sound will play, and any nearby ARC enemies or other players will be alerted to the impending extraction.
It takes about 15 seconds for the extraction point to open before you can go inside and use the secondary console to head back to Speranza early, or you can wait for your group or nearby players to join you, and it will automatically leave in 2 minutes.
If one person goes inside the activated extraction point, the two-minute countdown will be activated, so you’ve got a bit of time to loot any nearby ARC machines or bodies before you leave.
As long as one person in the extraction point uses that computer, everyone inside will be able to extract safely, so you don’t have to worry about having too many people and not enough computers.
Besides the regular extraction points, you can also extract via Raider Hatches. These extraction points don’t have a time limit on their availability and don’t require you to wait, making them safer than the others, but they require a Raider Hatch Key to be unlocked each time.
Raider Hatch Keys can either be obtained as a quest reward, such as from Hatch Repair, or purchased for 9,000 Credits from Shani’s shop at a limit of one every 24 real-world hours, but they require you to be level 12 to purchase them.
Raider Hatch Keys are incredibly handy to keep in your Safe Pocket so that you always have a safer exit from the map, and you won’t lose them if you do get killed.
All you need to do with Raider Hatches is find one on the map while having the key in your inventory, approach the console attached to the door of the hatch, and interact with it to unlock it.
The hatch will open up, and you can return to Speranza immediately with all your goods intact and without having to wait a few seconds for the extraction point doors to close.
Because both ARC and hostile players will likely attempt to kill you while extracting, find whatever cover you can and wait there, especially if you’re running solo.
You can use rock formations or cars at outdoor locations, like at The Dam, chairs and the curving walls if you’re in a Train Station, and nearby debris by the Air Shafts you’ll find at The Blue Gate.
Even if you don’t mind fighting or need ARC materials, it’s a great way to scope out the scene and get an idea of potential enemies, emote at approaching players to let them know you’re willing to extract together without a fight, or get prepared for any approaching machines in a safer manner.
Take Out Nearby ARC Enemies Ahead Of Time
The warning sound that plays any time an extraction point opens has a fairly large range, and a group of ARC enemies can take out even experienced players if you get unlucky or too many of the more powerful ones show up.
Try to clear out any enemies near the extraction point early, especially any of the small, more mobile flying machines like Wasps and Hornets, and do so while you’ve got some cover.
Not only will doing this make waiting for extraction safer, it’ll also lower the number of enemies attracted by the warning, as you’ll already have taken out the closest ones.
The only downside is that this can make it easier for a hostile Raider to kill you if you take too much damage, but that’s always a risk, and you can try to emote or talk your way out of a fight if someone shows up to the point.
Wait For Someone Else To Go In First
Since it takes around 30 to 45 seconds in total to get inside an extraction point, use the computer inside, and have the doors shut if someone’s leaving immediately, you do have time to run inside before it’s closed off.
You can hide somewhere close by with your flashlight off, such as behind the station benches if you’re at one of the Train Stations, wait until it’s just about to leave to see if anyone’s gone inside, then run inside before the doors shut to avoid a fight.
Even if they turn around and knock you down, it’s still possible to extract and get all your items like normal, as long as you aren’t finished off before you load into Speranza.
This also works if you’re already knocked down, as you can crawl into the extraction point if you’re close enough and haven’t bled out.
Doing so earns you the Not Over Til It’s Over achievement/trophy, and your chances of succeeding with this method are increased with the Downed But Determined and Crawl Before You Walk Skills.
