Why Collect Golden Walnuts?

There are a lot of Golden Walnuts, so why collect them all? As mentioned above, they can make your gaming experience a bit more ‘full’. With access to all the content Ginger Island has, you can experience the island life how it was meant to be.

Additionally, to achieve 100 percent completion, you will need to collect all 130 walnuts. Yes, this means that you will need to go above and beyond the number of walnuts needed to unlock everything.

General Actions To Get Golden Walnuts

Many Golden Walnuts can be obtained by doing basic actions. Below are the actions that can get you walnuts and how many you can expect to obtain from each action.

Buy Golden Walnuts From The Joja Parrot

If you’ve found most of the Golden Walnut locations in Stardew Valley, the Joja Parrot added in the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley in Spring 2024 can help finish your collection – for a fee, that is.

Located to the left of the entrance to the Volcano Dungeon, you’ll have the option to pay 10,000 Gold to have the parrot immediately give you any Golden Walnuts you’re missing.

It’s a costly way to get them and is mostly meant for repeat players who’ve done Ginger Island’s content a time or two before, but you can faithfully obtain every Golden Walnut this way if you’ve got the funds.

How To Find Golden Walnuts Inside The Volcano Dungeon

By exploring and reaching the top of the Volcano Dungeon, you can gather a total of 19 Golden Walnuts from the following actions.

Island East

There are two walnuts hanging around in this area; the first will be visible on a bush as soon as you enter the jungle. The second is in the foliage at the bottom of the bird shrine map.

Island West

Walking around the west side of the island will yield seven Golden Walnuts. This area is to the left of the main beach, where you can find the Island Farmhouse.

	Two are found by exploring small paths up near the bridge.
	Two are found just before reaching the bridge on the far west side, one behind the Tiger Slime and one hidden in the dark foliage.
	The final three out in the open are found in the far west at sea level. One is next to the pond, another is beside Mr. Qi’s secret room, and the final one requires you to follow the ocean next to where Mr. Qi has his secret room as far north as possible.

Island North

Island North is a large area that makes up the northern part of Ginger Island. The centerpiece of this area is the Volcano Dungeon, but you can also find the Dig Site and Professor Snail here.

	You can find four Golden Walnuts after repairing the bridge to the Dig Site by walking the paths around this section of the island.
	There’s another one in a bush, hidden behind a tree just below the Volcano entrance.
	Two are located in stone circles near the southern entrance.
	One can be found in a half-circle made of stones to the right of the Volcano entrance. Nearby, look for the curved tree above the Parrot Express. To knock it down, hit the tree with a slingshot.
	In between the four grass patches at the bottom of the map, one walnut can be dug up. Another walnut can be dug from the unusual sand near the Island Field Office.
	Dig in the following places: Stone Circle in Dig Site Stone circle near where Leo stands at the cliff Under the curved palm tree on the cliff near the Volcano entrance
	Near the left side of the Volcano Dungeon, you can find a secret path looping to a walnut.
	A second secret entrance is found under a curved palm tree near the southern entrance.
	Two are located by going through the Volcano and coming back out a side entrance. Use your watering can go left at the lava river, which will bring you to a platform and exit. When you go through it, you’ll be back outside next to two Golden Walnuts.

Island South

Island South consists of the beach area, as well as a secret location just to the right. There are four walnuts here, but you will need to head back to the entrance of Island North to obtain the first one.

	The other three are in the Southeast (which is only unlocked after building the Resort) and can be obtained by doing the following actions: Fishing in the star Digging in between the barrels in the pirate cove Digging in the middle of the four gold starfish on the beach

Other Island Locations

Several other walnuts can be found by dealing with various locations around the map. These are quite simple to obtain, and will just involve a bit of digging.

	One walnut can be found in a small path to the right of the Parrot Express. Enter into the trees and navigate your character slowly up the hidden path. The last one can be found by entering the pirate ship wreckage – just follow the path of stones that enters the water on the left-hand side of the wreckage.

Leo’s Tree – One Golden Walnut

Hit the tree inside Leo’s hut with an axe to receive the hidden walnut when you go visit Leo on the island.

Gem Bird – Five Golden Walnuts

On rainy days, the Gem Birds will appear on the island. These birds are involved in a small puzzle that requires you to place the correct gems on platforms. This area can be found to the right of the Parrot Express in front of Leo’s hut.

Prior to placing the gems, you will need to find the birds in the four main regions of the island. When they fly away, each bird will leave the gem that you will need to place on the corresponding platform.

Banana Offering – Three Golden Walnuts

Place a Banana on the pedestal near Leo’s hut in the jungle to get three Golden Walnuts from the resident gorilla.

Gourmand Frog – 15 Golden Walnuts

The Gourmand Frog is a Frog Statue that can be found on the farm portion of the island. Once you repair the farmhouse, head to the upper right portion of the map. Here, you will see a cave that can be entered. Within, is the Gourmand Frog.

The frog will cryptically request a Melon, Garlic, and Wheat, all at different times. Bringing him each of these crops will award 15 Golden Walnuts in total.

Whack A Mole – One Golden Walnut

Find the green mole on the beach and cover three of the holes with furniture. Hit him with your pickaxe at the fourth hole to win a walnut.

Crystal Puzzle – Three Golden Walnuts

For this puzzle, find the hidden cave under the tree that is across from the Parrot Express in the Island West. This is rather simple; simply interact with the same crystals that light up to earn the walnuts.

Musical Rocks – Five Golden Walnuts

During a rainy day, go to the beach near the resort to find a mermaid. This area can only be accessed after you unlock the resort and clear the debris that leads to the east.

There will be six rocks on the beach that you will need to place flute blocks around and tune in order to win the walnuts.

Darts – Three Golden Walnuts

On clear nights, head to the Pirate Cove and play a game of darts three times. The Pirate Cove can be found in the same area as the Mermaid.

Golden Walnuts From The Field Office

Survey – Two Golden Walnuts

Answer the two survey questions correctly; the answers are 22 purple flowers and 18 purple starfish.

Donations – 11 Golden Walnuts

Find and donate all pieces of the snake, mummified frog, mummified bat, and large animal to earn 11 Golden Walnuts.
