Scottish-based TikTok star Agnes ‘Epic Gamer Grandma’ has died at age 78, “holding the hand of her daughter, Pauline”.
As reported by TMZ, in the weeks preceding Agnes’ death, her grandson posted numerous health updates. In these posts, he explained that she had stopped uploading new videos due to her worsening chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a condition that worsens breathing, often leading to fatigue, weight loss, and frequent lung infections.
“Today, we had to call an ambulance,” he said on October 16. “Grandma is in hospital, she frequently goes in for extra medical support, but this time she is quite seriously ill.”
She became something none of us expected: Scotland’s biggest elderly creator. People from all over the world started calling her Epic Gamer Grandma, but to us, she was still just nana.
A month later, in November, he posted a worrying update, “The reality we’re all facing is that it’s looking increasingly more likely that she won’t be able to go home”.
“Rest Easy, Nana. You Completed The Game Of Life”
Unfortunately, that would prove true. “It is with an incredible amoutn of pain that tonight I must announce that Agnes, our Epic Gamer Grandma, passed away peacefully,” her grandson shared last night. “She left this world the way she lived in it: surrounded by love.
“We are completely heartbroken, but also incredibly proud,” he continued. “Proud of the woman she was long before anyone knew her online. Proud of the mum and grandma who held her family together, and proud of the way she spent her later years proving that life does not end at a certain age, it only changes shape.”
Grandma showed that the internet doesn’t only belong to the young. She showed that you can be in your seventies and still find new communities, new friendships, new ways to express yourself. She reminded people that our elders are not invisible, that they have stories, humour, opinions, and so much love left to give.
Epic Gamer Grandma leaves behind a legacy of over two million followers, who her grandson likened to her “second family online,” showing immense gratitude to those who appreciated and welcomed her right to the very end.
“Thank you for making her feel seen, valued, and celebrated in a world that often forgets people her age,” he ended the post. “She mattered to us, to you, and to so many more than she ever realised. Rest peacefully, nana, mum, grandma. Epic wasn’t just a nickname, it was a title. Epic Gamer Grandma forever.”

Banning TikTok Would Be A Nightmare For Video Game Developers
The social media platform being outlawed will have a massive impact on the medium.
