If you happened to have played the Ecco the Dolphin games way, way, way, back in the day… then good news! You’re not alone. I played the heck out of both the titular 1992 original and its 1994 sequel, Ecco: The Tides of Time. I was barely a blip of a human. I played them a few years later. And, to be honest, I really rather sucked at them as a child, but they were fun as heck. Never did check out Ecco Jr. or Defenders of the Future, but hey.
Anyway, promising news today for all my fellow dolphin-starring video game enjoyers, so let’s get on with it.
“Several,” Eh?
Did you expect a website title like eccothedolphin.com to exist, let alone be official, in 2026? Me neither. What about an official Discord server? Something’s happening, Ecco fam, and we even have the receipts.
As spotted by Gematsu, developer A&R Atelier – which, importantly, includes series creator Ed Annunziata in the role of Chief Creative Officer – has made quite the splash with an official statement. We know that remasters are coming, but there’s a third Ecco in the works, too. And now we know just how serious A&R Atelier truly is about all of this, with the sudden internet presence and all.

“Several new products and games” are in the works, per the devs, and while “products” can mean a wide range of things, “games” is self-explanatory. And quite hype-incuding, if I do say so, myself. We’ll be checking the new website regularly for fresh scoops, so stay tuned to TheGamer for everything Ecco the Dolphin. Which is really not a sentence I ever expected to be able to type.
